Chapter 15 - Rain

Start from the beginning

Melony was a Black Arrow, too!

"You're a... a..."

"Yep." She smiled, and pulled her sleeve back down. Then sadness came over her face. "You're not mad, are you? We are still friends, right?" she asked, pushing her hair out of her face.

"Yeah, I mean no. I mean- what I'm trying to say is that, no I'm not mad, and yes we are still friends." I smiled at her.

She sighed, and put her hand over her heart. "Good."

I realized that Mel had always wore sleeves that covered her shoulders.

We looked at each other for a moment, in complete silence. Then burst into laughs.

"Okay, okay," I said, between laughs. "Can we talk later? I would really love a real bath. I've been bathing in a river."

"Oh, that explains the smell."

I gave her a stern look.

"Kidding, kidding," she said, as she got up and walked for the door. She reached for the door handle, and opened the door. "Sorta." Then she closed the door and left.

I ran to the balcony doors, and opened them. Knowing who would climb through these doors tonight, at some point.

After that I did exactly as I planned. I sent for the bath.

It was nice to have some alone time. As my foot plunged into the tub, then the other followed. I sank into the tub, letting the heat take over. I sank all the way in until, just my head was above the water.

I scrubbed the dirt loose, then laid there enjoying the heat, and the quiet. I closed my eyes, sinking further, knowing my hair wouldn't get wet, because it was in a bun.

I felt the bubbles. I opened my eyes, and grabbed a handful of bubbles, and blew them. I giggled to myself, feeling slightly foolish.

The water was plenty relaxing. It was hot, to where the stream was cold.

I remembered the first time I was going to take a bath in the river.

"Right here," Mason had said, motioning to the stream.

"Wait. So, you take a bath in the... river?" I asked.

"Yep."

"Soap?"

"Nope."

Ew.

"I'll turn around, and make sure nobody comes, and you can take your clothes off, and take a bath."

"Right." I rolled my eyes.

And it basically went like that. I'm not even going to talk about the part where the fish were nibbling at my toes, and legs.

I stepped out of the bath, grabbing the fuzzy towel, and wrapped it around myself.

"Wow, what's going on in there? Are you dead?"

I rolled my eyes at Mason's comment. I walked out of the bathroom.

"There you are, I thought I was gonna have to hunt someone down and rip out their throat for killing you."

Mason sat on the bed, leaned against the headboard.

"Wow, Mason, that was really violent. I've never heard you speak like that."

He didn't say anything, he just looked down at his lap.

A shiver ran down me, as wind blew in from the balcony doors.
