The weeks to follow were the same as they had been.
I didn't talk to Draco or George at all. It had gotten to the point where almost everyone in the school had found out about my father one way or another.
And now, I was the talk in the Gryffindor common room. Conspiracies swirled about me being a death eater, about my mother being a death eater, and about me and Draco dating ( which technically was still true, we were still dating but only because neither of us would break up with the other ).
I was left with Hermione, Harry and Ron, who were even a little skeptical
themselves after finding out I spent Christmas with the Malfoys.I didn't tell them anything about me and Draco but I guess they assumed after the fight between Draco and George.
I figured Draco understood that I didn't want to talk to him because he hadn't tried to talk to me at all, or maybe he didn't want to himself.
I had decided to just forget about it all and focus more on my school work.
We had a few more weeks until Easter break and I had no idea where I would be staying. I hadn't wrote to my mother, and I felt slightly guilty. I decided to after potions.
I went back into the common room and took out a piece of parchment and a quill. I began writing a quick letter.
Dear mum,
I'm so sorry about father. I'm sorry I couldn't be there to comfort you. I hope you're doing well.
Love, ElizabethI sigh before folding up the letter and sealing it. I tell Hermione who was sitting next to me that I was going to send this to my mother.
I walk out of the common room to see two first year Gryffindors talking to a familiar blonde. I look over at them and he looks up at me.
Our eyes meet and I quickly turn away and begin walking up to the owlery.
What was he doing talking to two first years? As I reach the owlery I wipe the thought from my mind as I find a Hogwarts owl.
I attach the letter to his leg and he flies off.
I turn to walk back to the door when I see one of the first year girls walk in behind me. I glance up at her while smiling and her eyes go wide.
"Are-are you Elizabeth?" She asks quietly.
"Yes I am." I ask questioningly.
She doesn't respond, she just extends her hand and hands me a small piece of parchment.
I take it from her before thanking her and turning to leave.
I open the paper and read the small bold writing.
Elizabeth,
I feel like it's only best if we stop whatever it was that we had. It will only cause you more trouble. I'm sorry about your father. I know you haven't wanted to talk to me so I decided to write to you instead. I don't know what else to say other than I'm sorry.
DMI stare at the parchment. "Whatever we had." He wrote it like it didn't even phase him to break up with me.
I shove it into my jacket pocket and quickly make my way back to the common room.
As I walk in Hermione is walking out, and I nearly run into her.
"Oh Elizabeth! I was just coming to look for you." She says quickly and I pull her out of the common room.
I take out the parchment and thrust it at her. She gives me a confused look before taking it and open it. I watch her as her eyes move across the paper.
