Alex's POV
I had to catch my breath when we reached the edge of the lookout. Below me spread the lights of Las Vegas, covering the city like a twinkling blanket. I began to feel pinpricks of tears threatening to spill from my eyes. I looked at my boyfriend beside me, who had a smug look plastered on his face. "Bren, it's so beautiful up here. How'd you find this?"
He stuffed his hands into his pockets and shrugged. "I've been on lots of late night drives around Vegas. Here-" He gestured to the ground. "Sit down."
I waited until Brendon sat down, took a moment to appreciate how handsome he looked in the light, and sat in his lap before planting a kiss on his cheek and cuddling into his chest. The comfort I found in his arms wrapping around me was unbelievable, his hand stroking my hair in sync with the rhythm of his breaths. He planted a kiss on top of my head.
"I want to move in together," he whispered.
I jolted up, my head suddenly buzzing. "What? Brendon, I mean... are you serious?"
There was suddenly a goofy grin glued to his face. "Yeah, I'm serious. I mean, I think we might as well. I know you just moved into you're apartment but you've only payed rent for one month and- well, I better start from the beginning." He took a deep breath. "I'm moving from Vegas."
My head suddenly went from buzzing to throbbing. I almost choked on the words- "Where are you moving to, then?"
He looked down. "Los Angeles? Listen, that's just where I feel like I need to be. My move out date is next week. I was putting off telling you, because when I did, I wanted to ask you to move with me. I couldn't imagine-" his voice cracked, and it felt like my heart was being broke in half. "I couldn't imagine living without you. Alexandria Elise Barham, I love you, okay? And... You're in no way obligated to come with me. But I wish you would. That's... that's all."
My head spun. Suddenly the lights didn't look so beautiful. "But... what about Jenna, and I just moved all my things here, and... Brendon, I'm scared. Los Angeles? I mean, Las Vegas was already a stretch... I just, I have to think on it, okay?"
"Okay." I tried not to notice how heartbroken he sounded.
"Can we just... Lay down together for a while?" A sad smile crept onto his face, and his usually confident stare dimmed.
"Yeah, of course. C'mere."
I laid my head on his bicep and looked up at him, but his eyes were already closed. I closed mine, and didn't say anything again until we woke up in the same position with the sunrise.
