"Honey, where do I even start? They say opposites attract and that couldn't be more true for us, you're the most beautiful woman I've ever seen and I know we've only been together for seven months but I know you well enough now to know I want to spend the rest of my life with you", Ethan got down on one knee and presented her a diamond ring, "Will you marry me?",
                          
"Oh my god, of course I will!", she couldn't stop a few tears of joy from rolling down her cheeks,
                          
Ethan slipped the ring on her finger and embraced her in a hug, listening to the cheers from various staff members and patients. After accepting the congratulations from their friends, the happy couple made their way towards the pub for some celebratory drinks.
                          
"Oh, I left my jacket in the staff room", he turned around to head back,
                          
"Wait, I'll come with you",
                          
"You go, I'll only be a few minutes", he gave her a quick kiss before heading back into the ED, stopping outside the storeroom when he heard quiet sobs coming from inside.
                          
At first Ethan didn't know what to do, he thought about going to get help since he probably didn't know who it was but then he realised that he could handle the situation on his own,
                          
"Hello?", he knocked on the door and awaited a response,
                          
The sobs stopped and there was a short hesitation before a voice replied, "Go away",
                          
Ethan instantly recognised the voice, his best friend, "Lily? Let me in, it's Ethan".
                          
The lock clicked and the door swung open a few seconds later, revealing Lily sat on the floor, holding her knees to her chest and trying to stop the tears that were streaming down her face,
                          
"I'm fine, honestly", her words were broken up with sobs as she tried to compose herself,
                          
Ethan crouched down in front of her, "You don't look fine, what's upset you?",
                          
"I can't tell you", Lily sighed in frustration, "It'll mess everything up between you two".
                          
"Lily, you're worrying me, what's going on?", he put his hand on her shoulder,
                          
"It's OK, I'll get over it", she grabbed his hand and hesitated, "I'll tell you later",
                          
Ethan stood up and carefully pulled Lily into his arms, hugging her until her sobbing subsided, "A few people are going to the pub to celebrate, would you like to join us?".
                          
It was then that she burst into tears all over again, "You're my best friend, right?",
                          
"Yes, and best friends don't keep secrets, what's upset you?",
                          
Lily pulled away and headed for the door, "They don't pressure each other either, I'll tell you tomorrow", she didn't intend on telling him anything, she just wanted to go home and forget about the day's events.
                          
"Alright, I'll call you later to make sure you're OK", he stood beside her in the doorway and put his arm around her,
                          
"Thank you but you really shouldn't worry, I'll be fine", she let Ethan escort her out into the car park, called for a taxi and waited for it to arrive, stating that she was in no fit state to drive.
                          
Lily stared at him as the taxi drove off, she knew he loved Honey but she always thought there was a chance he'd fall out of love with her, she always thought that one day, Ethan would be hers.
