Nina grunted and rolled onto her stomach. She was still in her queen-sized bed and it was one o'clock in the afternoon. She was so happy that she didn't have to go to work. Seeing Tristan after he told her he needed space two weeks ago was not what she needed.
At work, she barely looked his way. So she couldn't really tell how he was feeling. He avoided her as well.
What if she finally looked his way, and she noticed he wasn't as affected as she was? What if he was completely fine not being with her? Nina drew the covers over her head and let out a little scream. She wondered how her love life turned so messy.
She dreamed of Tristan for the past couple of nights. She couldn't get him out of her head no matter how hard she tried. She dreamed of his smile and him telling her sweet nothings in her ear. Just the thought of those dreams caused butterflies to erupt in her stomach.
So many times she thought about calling him, but she never did. She didn't want to stress him out. After all, he said he needed his space to think things over. So she was going to try her hardest to give it to him.
Nina's stomach grumbled, so she decided to get up and cook herself something to eat. She grabbed her phone and headed down the stairs. She walked into her kitchen and decided to just cook herself a grilled cheese sandwich. She had little appetite, but her stomach needed to be filled.
After cooking her sandwich, she settled onto the couch with a small bag of chips and a can of Sprite. She turned on the TV and began watching Law and Order. She turned her eyes from the show when she heard her cell phone ring. She noticed it was Tristan calling her.
Her hand gripped the cell phone but she didn't answer. She laid it back on her coffee table and started watching TV again. She wasn't ready to talk to him yet. She didn't want to make any small talk. That was probably the only reason he was calling her.
She sighed when she saw it was him calling him again. She gritted her teeth together and put her phone on silent. She got up off the couch and decided to take a hot shower. Taking a shower always made her feel better.
After taking a long hot shower, she brushed her teeth and washed her face. She put on some vanilla-scented lotion and perfume. She left her hair in a messy ponytail. She dressed in a pair of blue skinny jeans and a white t-shirt. She was comfortable and had no plans of going out.
She walked back into the living room and decided to find a movie to watch. She wanted to laugh so she decided to watch Friday After Next with Ice Cube and Mike Epps. The movie always made her laugh and feel good when she was feeling down
Nina put the DVD in and settled onto the couch when she heard the doorbell ring. She wasn't expecting any company and wasn't in the mood for any. She frowned when the doorbell became incessant. Whoever the person was they were very impatient.
"I'm coming," Nina shouted at the door. She opened the door and saw Tristan.
"Tristan, what...what are you doing here?" Nina noticed he had bags under his eyes even though he was smiling.
"You weren't answering my phone calls."
Nina shrugged. "I was busy."
"You must've been really busy." His voice was dripping with sarcasm and Nina realized his eyes were focused on her TV.
Nina frowned. "As a matter of fact, I still am. So if you don't mind." Nina tried to shut the door but he blocked it with his foot.
"You're not getting rid of me that easily." Tristan walked towards Nina so she backed up a couple of steps.
Nina sighed and shut the door once he was all the way inside. She stared at Tristan as he crossed his arms and looked back at her. He stepped towards her and grabbed her by the waist and pulled her close. He bent down so that his lips grazed her ear.
"I missed you," Tristan whispered.
Nina bit her lip because she could help the moisture forming between her legs. She tried to step out of his embrace, but he held her tighter. She missed him too but the words wouldn't come out. She couldn't fight her feelings anymore so she just laid her head against his chest. She inhaled his scent. He smelled like soap and cologne.
Tristan chuckled. "I'm assuming you missed me too."
Nina nodded.
Tristan kissed her temple and pulled back so he could stare down at her. "You scared me when you didn't answer your phone. I thought something may have happened."
"I'm sorry. To be honest, I was too petrified to talk to you."
Tristan grabbed her by the hand and led her to the couch. They cuddled close together.
"Why were you like that?" Tristan asked.
"I thought maybe you just wanted to make small talk. The other reason was I thought you were going to tell me something that I didn't want to hear. Is that why you're here?"
Tristan nodded. "I came here to tell you that I've thought things over."
Nina's heart picked up in pace and her mouth became dry. "So, what have you decided?"
"I want to say that Nick doesn't deserve you. I care so much about you that I'm willing to possibly ruin a friendship just to be with you."
Nina thought about what he said a moment. "Tristan, I don't want you to end your friendship with Nick. You have been friends with him for so long. I would feel bad."
"That's what I'm talking about. You're too good for him. Was he thinking about you when he cheated on you with Naomi?"
Nina shook her head. "But I still don't want to be the reason you end your friendship with Nick."
"Nina, this is my decision and I'm sticking to it. I know it's being a little selfish on my end but I can't help it. You deserve better and that's why I'm here. I'm here to show you how a real man is supposed to take care of his woman."
Nina smiled at Tristan and straddled him. "Well, then show me."
Tristan flipped Nina over so that he was on top of her. He positioned his body so that he was in between her legs. He placed his lips against hers and licked her bottom lip.
He smiled devilishly and said, "I'll show you alright. I hope you don't tire easily."
