Chapter 33 "Karma"

                                    

                                          
Severide leaves Bodens and heads to Molly's. He knows most everyone from the Firehouse will be there. 
He walks into Molly's, people see who it is and Molly's goes silent. 	
"Kelly! What is it? What's wrong? Is it Shaylynn?" Herrmann yells out. 
Everyone is waiting to hear what Severide has to say. 	
Severide smiles, "SHE'S AWAKE!" 
All of Molly's bursts into cheers. 
"THIS ROUND IS ON THE HOUSE!" yells Herrmann. 
"Here Kelly, let me get you a drink" Herrmann tells Severide. 
	"Thanks, but I'm going to head back to the hospital. Just dropping by to let everyone know the news." 
Herrmann smiles at him, "Gotcha! Tell her Molly's says HI!" 
"Will do!" Severide says back to Herrmann. He waves at everyone as he exits. 
                          
He gets back to the hospital and can't seem to find Shaylynn, so he calls Hank. 
"Voight" 
"Can you tell me where my wife is? I've been all over this hospital and can't find her." 
Severide can hear Hank laugh. 
"Take the elevator to the top floor. Once off, go to the right. Her room is the last one at the end of the hall."
Severide hangs up and does what Hank told him. 
The elevator reaches the top floor, the doors open, he gets off and heads to the right. 	 
He walks down the hallway. 
The closer he gets to the end he can see the three guys who are usually with Butch. 
He walks into Shaylynns room, there stands Hank with Butch. 	
"There he is. We'll step out since Kelly's here" Hank tells Shaylynn as he gives her a hug. Hank looks at Butch and nods toward the door. 	
Butch gives Shaylynn a hug and follows Hank out. 
"I wondered when they were going to show up" Severide says to Shaylynn.
"They were off doing something. Just got back into Chicago today" Shaylynn tells him. 
Severide just notices the bed, "You got upgraded! I never knew the hospital had beds that size." 
Shaylynn laughs and smiles,"This is so you can be with me." 
"Is that so!" Severide smiles. He takes off his boots, moves the covers and gets in bed with her. 
Dr. Rhodes walks down the hall toward Shaylynns room. 
Hank sees Dr. Rhodes and stops him before he goes in. 
"Is Shaylynn going to be okay, Doc?"
"She's going to be just fine. My shift is almost over and I just wanted to check on her one more time before I leave." 
Dr. Rhodes opens the door to Shaylynns room, then closes it very quickly. 
"I thought you said you were going to check on her" Hanks says to Dr. Rhodes. 	
He smiles back at Hank. 
"I think she's just fine! She's in good hands right now!" 
                          
The next couple of days have been an adventure! 
After Shaylynn was released from the hospital, she and Severide moved in with Hank while they search for a new house. Cindy and Herrmann are keeping Leslie so she is happy as a clam having playmates. 
Being an adult, married, and living with your father was never in Shaylynns plans. She loves Hank, but the sooner her and Severide find a place, the better. 	 
She's never lived in Hank's house. This is his house with Camille and Justin, so it's very awkward for her. Plus being in the house alone while Hank and Severide are gone is really weird. 
She wishes she could get out, but there's no way she can by herself with her head injury. Today it seems Hank and Severide have went off, doing something together. 	 
That really worries Shaylynn. Just what do those two have in common. 
                          
Hank and Severide pull up in front of the prison. They both want to know why Hadley hired those two guys to set the fire. 
Hank and Severide make it through all the security. 
"I'm going to stay out of the room. He'll more than likely reveal more to you if I'm not around" Hank tells Severide. 	
Severide enters the room and sits down. 
Five minutes later a corrections officer brings in Hadley and sits him down on the other side of the table from Severide. Someone outside of the door motions for the officer to come out. 
He walks out of the room and the door shuts. 
	"Well, well! If it isn't Severide. What do I owe the pleasure of this visit?" Hadley says. 
"What's your deal Hadley? Why did you start the fire at my house?" Severide asks him. 	 
"If you haven't noticed, I'm in prison. So there is no way I could have started any fire." Hadley says smiling.
"My wife heard the two goons you hired say YOUR name as they were fleeing after hitting her over the head with a crowbar and leaving her for dead!" 	 
Hadley doesn't seem happy. 
Severide keeps going on and on trying to get Hadley to break. 	
Finally it works! 
"You want to know why. After Shay died I LOVED hearing that you were a mess! Nothing was going right for you, women, job, EVERYTHING! Finally the great Severide can finally realize what it's like. What it's like for me! After a while things started getting back to me that you were promoted back to Lieutenant. Then this woman came to the Firehouse and how Severide fell head over heals for her, but she went off and dated other guys. 	I thought that was so funny! Severide dumped! Then I read that you finally got caught and had a kid. I was thinking it finally happened, poor Severide. After a while I didn't hear any more, until one day I was reading a newspaper and what do I see, you and this Shaylynn staring back at me, smiling in a wedding picture. Isn't it funny how her name is SHAY-lynn. I figured why shouldn't she go the same way Shay did." 	 
Severide quickly stands up, pushing over the chair as he does, reaches over the table and grabs Hadley. 
"You SON OF A BITCH! You almost killed my wife! I would hate to think what would have happened if my daughter would have been in there! Why would you do this?!" 	 
Two correction officers come running in, one grabs Severide while the other grabs Hadley. 
"Don't you get it! You finally hit bottom just like me. Then you started to get EVERYTHING again! YOU WERE GETTING EVERYTHING, WHILE I HAVE NOTHING AND IN HERE!" Hadley tells Severide. 
Another corrections officer comes in, "Time's up!" 
One correction officer takes Hadley out of the room, while the other opens the door for Severide. 
He walks out of the room. Hank is standing on the other side of the one way glass. 
Past Hank, Severide can see a couple of guys walking down the hall. They look like Butch and the other three guys, but why would they be here. 	
Hank distracts Severide from looking down the hall, "It's unfortunate those correction officers had to come into the room." 	
Hank and Severide head out of the prison. 
Once in the car and on their way back Hank tells Severide everything that Hadley said will be turned over to the Arson Investigator.
