The screeching in his head didn't stop for several minutes. Making his vision blurry and the back of his head scream in pain. The pain traveled from where his eyes sat in his head to the center of his brain and finally landed at the back of his head. After it had stopped it made him feel clouded and unaware of where he was.
He saw darkness but as he opened his eyes light began to creep through. He looked up to see Draco smirking down at him. Wasn't he supposed to be blind?
He brought a shaky hand up to his eyes and touched them. He began to speak but stopped abruptly. He couldn't hear. He said the words he was trying to say slowly to make sure he was saying them right. He couldn't be sure that was actually what was coming out or how Draco heard it. In his head it sounded normal but once outside of the mouth he began to feel unsure.
Draco put on a bigger smirk and said something that was inaudible. He shrugged his shoulders and faked a frown.
He stood and looked at the room, suddenly increasingly angry at Draco. The room was like nothing he had ever seen at Hogwarts, grey stone walls, no Windows, dirt floor. It looked like a legit dungeon.
He tried his best to ask where they were but Draco was out the door. He threw himself out of the room after him.
Once Draco saw Harry was following he began to run. Harry gave chase and they ran through the halls.
In Harry's head, he was shouting Draco's name angrily. He could just imagine Dracos banter of laughter and the stupid grin on his face.
Draco came to a halt in front of the doors to the great hall and entered as if he had not just cursed Harry. As Harry entered, Draco was already too close to the Slytherin table that Harry decided not to get revenge just yet.
He had used the wrong curse on purpose, Harry just knew it. At least if he was blind Draco would have been able to talk to him, now there was no way to communicate.
Ron waved at him and he walked smoothly over to the Gryffindor table, coming up the hand actions to tell them what had happened.
Ron yelled something that he could not hear and both Ron and Hermione got up from the table to greet him.
"Her-mi-o-ne" Harry said, pausing between syllables. He pointed to his ears and then at Draco.
Almost immediately Hermione's face rang with anger. She turned to Ron, who was looking utterly confused, and explained. Harry hoped she was explaining correctly, but he had no way of knowing.
Ron's eyes went wide and he lunged forward towards the slytherin table. Hermione grabbed his wrist and pulled him outside into the hall. Harry followed, watching Hermione's eyes dart between Ron and him.
He followed her to the only place that was expected of her, the library. In no doubt searching for a cure to his problem. That is what he loved about her, the fact that he could always count on her for any problem, big or small.
She sat them down at a table far from the entrance and went off into the maze of books. Ron still looked as if he was going to kill someone, but he remained seated and waited for Hermione's return.
She came back moments later, books towering in her arms so high that they covered her face. She dropped them on the table and took a seat next to Ron, looking mildly pleased with herself.
Ron and Hermione discussed over the tops of books while Harry watched, he had no idea what was going on or what they were saying and it made him feel even greater contentment towards Draco. At that moment he began to second guess himself and the feelings he felt towards him, sure he was attractive, but he was a dick.
But something about the way they he had hugged him earlier, and cried into his shoulder, made him think differently. Maybe it was just a show, a way for him to get attention, like he had said earlier that year, that he had never really gotten any attention. He hadn't believed him at first, but after all of the events that had taken place that year, he now saw how lonely the boy actually was.
Pansy had set up the plan to commandeer his sight, which meant he wanted Pansy's approval.
He sighed, which made Hermione and Ron look up at him with great sympathy. They exchanged a few words before Hermione took him by the inside of his arm and dragged him out into the hall.
She continued to drag him down several more halls before stopping in front of Dumbledore's office. They waited only a few moments before Dumbledore stumbled out and greeted them with a smile. They followed him up the stairs to his office and took a seat. Much to his annoyance, they had a long discussion with frequent glances over at him and a few giggles here and there. This whole being deaf thing was getting on his nerves. He wanted it to go away so he could yell at Draco and be sure of what he was yelling.
Finally, in what seemed like forever, Dumbledore stood and pointed his wand at Harry saying something before he was blinded by a yellow tinted light.
"Harry? " he heard Hermione ask.
"I-I can hear!" Harry leapt out of his chair and felt his ears. "Thank you so much professor! "
"Ron says that Draco did this to you." Dumbledore said.
"Yeah, I don't know what his deal is. We, or at least I thought we had, got over our differences. He still hates me." Harry sat back down and glanced up at Dumbledore, "why does he hate me so much?"
"Oh, I don't think he does" Dumbledore said with a chuckle, "you see, he came to me, speaking of the same problem you have. He was wondering why you hated him, I think you've got admirer, Harry. He likes you a lot."
