The Plane

                                    

                                          
Twirling the shining green emerald around in his palms, Sonic smiled happily. Tails and Knuckles were busy occupying themselves, Tails was hunting for anything that could be useful on their journey and was currently somewhere in his garage, whilst Knuckles was simply saying 'goodbye' to the master emerald. Sonic decided not to ask how one was even able to perform such a task.
The blue hedgehog was currently sat in his living room, listening to the gentle tinkering that could be heard coming from the garage. Tucking the glistening emerald away into his quills and waiting for his younger brother to finish packing whatever it was he wanted to take, the blue blur sat down in a wooden chair next to him. Grinning to himself, he finally looked confident about this situation for the first time in a week. 
'This mess should all be over soon'.

"Right, I think that's the last thing we need" Tails said, finally finishing packing his bag. "We'll need to take the Tornado, just in case." Tails added, desperate to finally have a reason to use his yellow biplane that had been sitting stationary for a few weeks now.
Sonic nodded, agreeing with the twin tailed Kitsune. Even though he could use chaos control, he wasn't an expert at it like Shadow was, and they would definitely need a quick escape if anything bad happened. Turning around, allowing Tails to pack anything he wished to take into the small plane, Sonic couldn't help but stare out into the large city they had currently found home in, and wondering what the hell had been bugging his dark counterpart so much earlier on that day. Breathing out gently, Sonic shook his head, slightly annoyed at how much easier this would currently be if Shadow had offered to join them. As much as Sonic didn't want to, he couldn't help but admit the dark hedgehog was way  better at Chaos Control than he was, and he was way more accurate than the blue blur. But even still, it was clear Shadow wanted to be on his own, and forcing him to participate most likely wouldn't do him or Sonic any good.
"Sonic! I'm ready!" 
Chuckling to himself, Sonic turned around and grinned at the young fox. 
"Alright Tails, grab Knuckles and tell him to stop making out with his rock, and let's go!"
Catapulting his body into the yellow plane, Sonic climbed aboard the top wing and gave a thumbs up, causing Tails to laugh happily, flying into the cockpit, the yellow fox tapped a few buttons on the control panel and started the engine up, the propeller on the front of the machine whirring quickly as Tails pulled the joystick towards him, the wheels rolling the plane out of the garage. Pulling the joystick back once more, Tails steered the shiny plane out of the driveway and up onto a makeshift ramp, quickly forcing the plane into the air, Leaving nothing but a thin cloud of smoke behind and the distant 'Woohoo's!' coming from Sonic.

Flying high up in the air, the blue hedgehog smiled, the wind violently whipping through his quills, leaving them windswept and wild. Balancing himself on the wing of the plane, Sonic looked down below him. The city looked minuscule from up above, the once giant towering flats were nothing but grey squares below, and the green fields and parks that were scattered throughout the giant city looked like lush green blankets, littered with green shrubs and colourful dots of flowers. The sun finally escaped through the clouds, the warm rays landing gently on the azure's fur, causing him to smile even wider -if that was possible- Purring quietly, Sonic was in pure bliss. The wind in his fur was calming. The events as of recently had made him feel uncomfortable and on edge twenty four seven. The wolf had really gotten to him this time, and it was managing to make Sonic feel worthless, and nothing but an annoyance to his friends. However today, proved that his friends really did care for him, and were happy to help him out, despite his own doubts recently. He felt elated, once again at ease with himself
