Chapter 17: Opening Up
Ring! Ring! Ring!
I woke up to that annoying buzzing sound coming from Robin's alarm clock.
"Ugh," I groaned.
I twisted to the side.
And to my surprise, I saw Robin sleeping next to me. She was wrapped in her purple fuzzy blanket.
In fact, I was so surprised that I might've accidentally yelled, "Ahhhh!"
She understandingly woke up and yelled too.
"What're you doing here?!" I yelled.
Robin calmed down. "I... I was feeling sad last night... so I brought my blanket and pillow to lie down next to you... I'm sorry..." she muttered.
I furrowed my eyebrows. "I don't get it, Robin... Why don't you just tell me what's wrong?"
"I... I just don't feel like talking about it." she said, looking down at her feet.
I placed my hands on her shoulders. "Robin, we're best friends. Best friends don't keep secrets from each other."
She looked at me with her crystal blue eyes. "I guess you're right..."
I sat up on her bed and patted the seat next to me. "Come tell Jarrett what's wrong."
She sat up. "Okay... Once upon a time, I had 2 best friends before I met you. Then, one day, this annoying little transfer student came along. She started hanging out with us. I didn't mind until the 3 of them started hanging out without me. Everytime I tried to talk to them, they would just avoid me. Then came yesterday at school. I was in the girl's bathroom and overheard them bad-mouthing me."
"What did they say?" I asked.
Wow, that was such a stupid thing for me to say.
"They said they couldn't believe they used to hang out with a loser like me."
"Oh..." I sighed. I coiled my arms around her into a hug. "I'm so so sorry, Robin..."
She hugged me back tighter. "It's not your fault..." she said, her voice breaking.
I stroked her hair. "It's okay to cry..."
She did. Tears rolled down her cheeks.
"Don't worry, I'll always be right by your side..." I whispered in her ear.
