Chapter 30: Mission Infiltration

                                    

                                          


                          
Team seven found a boulder under a tree along the edge of the forest, there, Minato had a map of the lands laid out. "See. It's this line here." Minato pointed to a line on the map representing a road. "It shows where the Land of Earth is currently invading the Village Hidden in the Grass. The enemy are shinobi from the Village Hidden in the Stone, and according to our intel they've deployed a thousand shinobi to the front lines." he pointed to another spot on the map. "Here."  
                          
 "They've advanced farther than the last time." Obito observed. 
                          
 "Well, the Grass Village is situated right next to the Land of Fire. We should have stepped in earlier." stated Kakashi. 
                          
 "If the Hidden Stone is able to invade like this then it must mean they have an efficient system for reinforcements." Rin said. 
                          
 "That must also mean they have a steady flow of shinobi." added Yuzuki. "Like Sensei said, the've deployed thousands to the front lines."
                          
 "That's why our mission is this. The Kannabi Bridge." explained Minato. "To crush your enemy at the front lines requires an immense amount of shinobi, right? Therefore, shinobi like us who focus on sabotage is forced to work in a small efficient unit."
                          
 "The bridge?" said Kakashi in realisation. "Our mission is infiltration."
                          
Minato nodded. "Team Kakashi, your mission is to sneak behind enemy lines and get to the bridge. Once you four are there, you will destroy the bridge in order to distribute the enemies operation. After that you will promptly withdraw."
                          
 "Understood." all four students replied.
                          
 "And you?" then Obito asked.  
                          
 "I'll confront the enemy directly on the battle field. That will create a diversion so that you can do your job. Now remember, Kakashi is your team Caption on this mission. All of us will travel to the border together and once we get there, we'll seperate for our missions."
                          
Minato held out his hand over the map and his students joined in putting in their hands. "Right!"

Hours passed by. Team seven quietly walked threw a giant mushroom forest, where mushroom of all sizes, ranging from the size of a person, to ten trees, grew all around them. The hats the mushrooms created gave no way for the sunlight, so on the ground it was chilly, like a haunted forest.
                          
 Yuzuki yawned as they walked growing bored.
                          
Kakashi who led the way, froze in his position and held up his hand to holt his team. Yuzuki stopped also sensing a small chakra presence. Somewhere in this mushroom forest was an enemy in hiding. 
                          
 Kakashi silently led his team to take cover behind a fallen log. Yuzuki activated her sharingan and peered over the large log in search of the enemy. 
                          
 "Be on guard." whispered Minato who held a single finger pressed to the ground. "There's twenty of them out there, although I assume their just shadow clones." 
                          
 "I agree, Sensei." replied Kakashi softly. "All right, then. I'll attack. Please back me up."  
                          
 "Wait. Don't be hasty. I'll go, you can cover for me, Kakashi." 
                          
Kakashi began to make a series of hand signs. "Sensei, I'm team Caption today, right? I wanna try out a new jutsu I've been working." a ball of lightning appeared his hand. "Chidori!" the ball grew larger and powerful. It immited a strange sound like a thousand chirping birds. 
                          
 "Whoa." Yuzuki said impressed, the light of the Chidori reflected in her sharingan. 
                          
Minato held his arm out in front of Kakashi. "Wait."
