Dean's POV
~~~
I got let out of the hospital that evening. Roman drove us home, but he was still acting weirdly. He had been since he woke up that morning. I'd considered asking him about it but frankly I was exhausted so I pushed it to the back of my mind.
"Alright." Roman breathed, tapping his thumbs rhythmically on the steering wheel as we pulled up to his house. His eyes lingered on the front door, no doubt reliving the events of the medics dragging my unconscious body out of it.
I felt the guilt rising inside of me so I quickly stepped out of the car. Roman soon followed."Shit." I heard Roman curse from the other side of the car. He walked around to meet me whilst scrolling through his phone.
"What's up?" I asked, taking the key from his hand and unlocking the front door. We both entered the house and I stumbled straight into the front room to crash onto the couch.
"I totally forgot about Seth. He's probably been worried sick, I haven't messaged him in days." Roman typed furiously at his phone with his eyebrows furrowed."Ah, shit. Invite him over. I miss the cute fucker." I laid back in the chair and glanced up at Roman who was now smiling down at his phone.
"Alright, he's coming over. I've got to head out to the store 'cause we've got no food in." Roman slid his phone into his back pocket and looked down at me.
He hesitated slightly and I could tell he was wary about leaving me alone again."Roman." I looked up at him from the chair, not feeling the need to expand from his name. He nodded shortly and ruffled my hair on the way out.
"Seth'll be here in a minute or two. I'll be back soon."I watched the car pull out from the driveway and disappear down the street. Being alone in the house made me feel uneasy. I remembered when Roman left for the day and how I spent so long distracting myself from the needles in my bag.
And I remembered pulling them out and sitting against the bath. I knew the measurements. I knew how much would knock me out. But apparently I didn't know how much I needed to finish the job.
A quiet knock at the door dragged me back into the room. I pulled myself to my feet and opened the door.Seth stood there playing awkwardly with his hands and smiling across at me. His hair was pulled back into a messy bun of dark brown and bleached blonde strands and he was wearing a pair of thick rimmed glasses which framed his large, round eyes.
"Hey, Seth. How you doing?" I leaned against the door frame and grinned at his nervousness. He grasped onto the straps of his backpack with both hands, glancing at the floor briefly.
"I'm okay, thank you. How're you?"
I moved to the side for Seth to enter. We walked to the living room and sat beside each other on the sofa.
"I'm doing alright." I answered with a slow nod. Seth continued to toy with the straps of his bag, shifting around trying to get comfortable.I studied him carefully. Upon closer inspection I noticed his hands were trembling ever so slightly.
"Seth?" My voice was quiet and concerned, "What's wrong? Whatever it is, you can tell me. You know that."Two soft, brown eyes looked up to meet mine. He seemed to find comfort for a moment but soon went back to shifting and shaking.
"W-Well, I just wanted to... I was considering telling..." I raised an eyebrow and watched him stutter and stumble over his words.I rested a hand on his upper arm and tried to catch his gaze again.
"Hey... Jus' take a deep breath. Nobody hurt you, did they?" I said calmly trying to encourage Seth to share whatever was getting him so worked up. He shook his head at my words.His eyes darted about the room before meeting mine. His voice was quiet when he eventually spoke.
"I've been... Unsure about something for quite a while now. I didn't talk to anyone about it though... Not even Roman."I repositioned myself on the sofa to face him so that he knew he had my full attention. He hadn't even told Roman?
"And over the past week or so I've kinda... Kinda realised..." His voice trailed as he started to visibly tremble in front of me. Acting on impulse, I sat forwards on the chair and put an arm over his shoulder.
"Whatever it is, Seth, it's fine honestly. Please don't be scared." I watched him, feeling myself getting nervous, despite my verbal reassurances to the boy before me.
Seth chewed hard on his bottom lip as his cheeks started to grow a dark shade of red."I-I think, I think th-that..." He stuttered again before turning his head to look across at me. He raised a shaky hand to push his glasses further up the bridge of his nose.
Seth swallowed hard, placing his hands on his lap.
"I... I really like you..."I stared at him in silence for a while before I could react, suddenly very aware of my arm which was still draped over his shoulder.
"You... Like me?" I questioned, making sure I hadn't misinterpreted his confession, "The way you like Roman, or..."Seth held his breath and slowly but surely shook his head. He refused to look up from his hands.
"Not the way I like Roman." His voice was still quiet and his cheeks were still burning up.I sighed lightly and stood up from the couch to squat down in front of Seth. He forced himself to look at me.
"Seth... That was quite possibly the most flattering thing I've ever heard." I smiled up at him and pushed a loose lock of hair behind his ear.A shy smile spread across his face as he watched me.
"Now I'm not saying it's never going to happen, but I'm not in the best place right now. So maybe, if you wouldn't mind..." I rested a hand on his knee and watched him closely, "I'd like to keep the possibility open for the future?"A soft smile wound it's way onto Seth's face as he sat blushing and nodding nervously. I smiled widely at the sight and pushed myself further between his knees.
"I really am flattered, Seth."
I placed a light hand behind his neck and brought him forwards to press my lips against his. His eyes widened momentarily to stare at me before they fluttered closed.I moved my lips slowly and carefully against his. Seth remained still, letting me take over from either lack of experience or shock.
When I pulled back, his cheeks were darker than before. He started to grin widely and even let out a short giggle.I laughed at his reaction and sat myself back beside him on the sofa, patting his hair.
"You're too damn cute, Seth."~~~
