Throughout the day, Harry just couldn't get Draco out of his mind. He wasn't at any of the meals or in potions. He wondered if he was okay. He had told Hermione and Ron earlier that morning that he had stayed up late studying and fell asleep in the library, whether they believed him or not was another question.
When the day had finished Harry found himself once again in the seventh corridor. He had skipped out on dinner, being quite eager to get back to Draco.
The door appeared and he entered. It was too dark to see anything so he pulled his wand from the pocket of his robes, the room looked nothing like what it had been when he had first came in with Draco. The beds were now in different positions, one tipped on its side to block the window and the other in the opposite corner from which it used to be.
"Draco?" He called.
Something stirred through the sheets on the bed. He walked over to the bed covering the window. He reached up and pulled it back down on all four legs.
"Draco" he called again. "Why was this bed on it's side?" He pulled the bed closer to Draco so that it was, once again, across from his.
The sheets on the bed were thrown back and a grumpy looking Draco sat up. His hair strewn and eyes lids heavy, although this did not stop him from looking perfect.
"You're back?" He asked sharply."why?"
Harry began to regret coming back, obviously he didn't want him here.
"Yeah, I wanted to see if you were okay. Did you leave the room, like, at all? " Harry ran his hand along the top of the end his bed, pulling his hand away when he got to Draco's feet.
"I'm great." Draco replied. With what Harry suspected to be sarcasm.
"Alright. That's great. Um, can I ask what had made you faint like that?"
"Yeah, you can ask. You won't get an answer, but you can ask." He rolled back over, letting out a sigh before pulling the sheets back over his shoulder.
Harry took a seat on the bed across from him, he watched Draco's blond head move until he had gotten to a comfortable position."How much sleep are you getting?" He asked.
"Until last night, none." He grumbled.
"Why?" He wasn't expecting an answer, and he didn't get one. Instead he got a grunt. "What are you hiding from me?"
"Oh my god, potter. What are you even doing. You're acting as if I owe you something! As if we're friends. I would never tell you anything. You are a pest. Thanks for the concern and all, but I don't need it. I don't need you. Leave me alone. Why do you even care?" Draco sat up and glared at him.
"I just want to help you. I've never seen you like this."
"I'm sure you pay a whole shit ton of attention to me." Draco rolled his eyes.
"Yeah, I kinda do." He said quietly. He kind of hoped he wouldn't hear him.
"What?"
"Nothing" Harry got up but Draco grabbed his wrist and pulled him back.
"Potter, repeat what you just said. Because to me you said, ' yeah I kinda do.' But I know that's wrong, because no one has ever paid me attention before."
"What do you mean? No one has ever paid attention to you. You're like, king of the slytherin house. Everyone worships you.perfect Draco with his perfect hair and his perfectly aligned jaw bone." He wanted to laugh in Dracos face, he had no reason to feel sorry for himself. Or at least thats the mask that he put on.
"Not really. Sure I have crabbe and goyle who follow me around, but they couldn't care any less about me. Blaise hates me, and Pansy, she's as dumb as a rock." Draco released Harry's wrists and he sat back down across from him.
"And your parents?"
"My parents?" He laughed. "Sure they're willing to spend galleons on me, but they would never actually have a loving conversation with me. They're more devoted into serving the dark lord. Just adopt him why don't you?"
Harry chuckled, " adopt voldemort? I could see your parents doing that."
" yeah, so could I." He ran a swift hand through his hair and stared at Harry. "I don't know why I just told you all of that. But back to what you said."
"Um, yeah. Since first year really. I didn't shake your hand, and I'm sorry. I should have, but Ron was standing there, and he hates you. I wanted to be your friend since that time we talked in the wand shop. You didn't have to talk to me, but you did. I guess I just felt the need to repay that debt." He stared down at the floor, avoiding Malfoys eyes.
"You know what, potter." Malfoy said. He sat up and placed his hand on Harry's chin, making Harry look at him. "This whole time I've been mad at you, it just seems so petty but, thanks and I forgive you, although it really should be me that apologizes."
"Hey, no biggy." He began to feel slightly awkward with Malfoys hand on his chin. "So we can start over?"
Malfoy release Harry's chin and gave him a genuine smile, not a smirk or a sneer, but a smile. "Yeah, I'd like that a lot, Harry"
"So would I, Draco."
Harry stood up from the bed, he had no idea what to say now. What did people normally say when they befriended their enemies?
"What do I do about weasel? " Draco asked.
"First off, his name is Ron, second, we should tell him. He'll probably find out on his own, right. And who cares if he agrees with it. If you treat him right, he'll forgive you."
Was it possible for Draco to treat him right? They probably wouldn't become friends by any sort, but the bullying would have to stop.
"Fine, and the other Gryffindor? They all hate me, too."
"Stop worrying. Who cares what they think of us." Harry watched him think about this. His eyes wandered the room and his hands plucked at a loose string on the blanket. He paid closer attention to the way his brow furrowed and his top lip when it came over his bottom lip.
"This is really weird. I never thought that I would actually be friends with you. I always figured you hated me. Is this normal? Befriending someone you've never gotten along with."
"No. It's not normal. But I've never thought of myself as normal."
Draco chuckled, " neither have I."
