The line stays silent, but soon I hear Aliyah's voice speak causing my face to fall.

"Is something wrong?" She whispers in concern as I hear Shawn playing a song in the background, it sounds really good.

"Lydia?" She asks quietly and I snap out of my trance.

"Yeah, everything is fine-uh- its just that... Is Shawn alright?" I sniffle and I hear her walk into another room.

"No, something is definitely wrong, he keeps yelling. And he's ignoring every single one of your phone calls...What happened?" She asks and I sigh sadly.

"He saw something last night and he thinks I- Someone kissed me last night and now he won't let me explain..." I look down at my nail marked hands.

"Oh, he thinks you cheated? But your not even- You didn't did you?" She asks and I nod forgetting she can't see me.

"No I didn't, the guy practically shoved his lips into mine. I pushed him away the second I could, I swear. I would never do that to Shawn." I explain and she sighs.

"Who is that?" I hear Shawn ask her on the other side of the line.

"Just a friend from school..." She lies unconvincingly.

"And you used my phone to call them because? It doesn't matter, just here. I gotta make a call." He states and I can hear her panicking.

"Go ahead." I whisper.

"Hi Sorry, this is Aliyah's brother Shawn, she's got to go but she can call you back in a few minutes." He states and I smile at the sound of his voice before hearing the beep of him hanging up.

I'm glad he didn't notice it was me.

I wait a really long time for Aliyah to call me back, it almost seems like she isn't going to at all.

When she does I hastily pick up the phone.

"Yeah?" I ask and I hear her sigh.

"He's leaving early. I heard him talking to his manager on the phone he wants to go write some more music. It's all settled, he's leaving tomorrow." She informs me and my eyes widen.

"What? He's leaving?" I croak.

"Yeah, he said he came up with a new song he wants to record, an angry one. I think he's calling it, Aftertaste?" She explains.

"If he would just let me talk to him..." I whisper quietly in defeat.

"I know, but just give him time, he'll come around. Don't worry my parents have noticed that something is up. Whenever they ask about you he gets all angry and goes up to his room." She informs.

"Oh-uh-I've got to go...Ill talk to you later." I tell her almost silently before hanging up on her.

I can't believe he's going to leave early. He's being irrational.

I sit on my bed in silence before deciding to take a quick shower, showers always help clear my head.

I pick out some clothes before heading into the bathroom and turning on the water.

Nothing seems to make sense right now, all I can think about is how long Shawn and I have been friends, was he faking the whole time?

He said he hates me... Was he being truthful, or did he say that out of anger?

We were supposed to be friends forever, now I guess I was right to doubt the forever part.

"Lydia!" My dad calls up to me once I've finished getting dressed.

"Yeah dad?" I yell back, but receiving no answer I walk down the stairs to see what he wants.

"Yeah dad?" I ask when I find my whole family sitting on the couch dressed and ready to go somewhere.

"We are going over to Shawn's house for dinner tonight as a go away party since he's leaving tomorrow." My mom informs me carefully and my jaw drops.

"What? We can't go over there." I state in shock.

"Why not? Shawn deserves a proper farewell, so his parents put together this surprise party for him. Oh, Your friend Brett's going to be there too." My dad informs me and I freeze.

No, no, no, no. This can't be happening.

"Now come on, go put on something nice so we can go." My mom tells me and I shake my head.

"I can't go over there tonight mom." I state and she gives me a confused look before sitting up and dragging me to the kitchen.

"I knew something was up, now spill." She demands.

"Shawn's mad at me." I state blankly.

"That's no reason not to go, he'll be glad you came!Show him you care about him even when he's mad at you." She exclaims pushing me out of the kitchen and up the stairs.

"Go put on something nice." She yells once I shut my bedroom door and slide down to the floor.

"This can't be happening." I whisper before standing up and going through my closet to find some shoes and a dress.

Eventually I find the one I'm looking for. Not too formal, and not to casual, plus it's Shawn's favorite.

I slip on the pretty black dress and do my hair in the mirror before heading downstairs.

"Are you ready?" My parents ask and I nod.

"As I'll ever be." I sigh and we all walk out the door.

My parents decide to save gas and we all walk on the sidewalk over to the Mendes' house.

When we get there Mrs. Mendes let's us in quietly.

I'm the last to enter.

The whole house is beautifully decorated with small presents and things for Shawn's surprise going away party.

"Oh Karen! This is beautiful, I'm sure Shawn will love it." My mom praises before hugging Mrs. Mendes.

"Thank you! Shawn is out taking a walk in the woods, he should be back in a little while." She informs us all and I frown slightly.

He must be at the rock...

Manny and my dad sit down on the couch to watch a football game with my brothers while me and my mom help Karen in the kitchen.

"Long time no see Lydia. Why haven't you been around lately?" Shawn's mom asks and I look down.

"Yeah, I just...haven't had time." I lie throwing my mom a look that says 'keep it shut'.

"Well I think Shawn's missed you, a lot." She chuckles and I force a laugh.

"I doubt it." I scoff knowing that he hasn't, If he did miss me he would pick up the phone.

"Mom, Shawn's walking up the sidewalk!" Aliyah shouts and I freeze looking for a spot to hide.

"Everyone hide!" Karen whisper yells causing people to rush behind counters and the couch, luckily Brett isn't here yet so I have one less thing to worry about.

"Uh I've got to go pee." I state out loud before running to the closest bathroom to hide.

I here the front door open and a bunch of 'Surprise' yells as Shawn enters the house.

Shawn speaks out in happy confusion as people, at least I'm assuming, give him hugs.

When everything calms down I flush the toilet to make it seem like I actually had a reason for being in the bathroom.

Then I bring my hand to the door nob and take in a big breath because I know I can't hide forever...
