Lea: Outside was filled with chaos. Eden fought her way through a pack of snarling fangs and so did the other members. I was not exactly sure who was on our side and who wasn't so I let them all be. The only wolves I recognized were Eden and Ryan.
Bullets whizzed through the air hitting their marks with a deafening noise and wolves fell around me. Some bullets also hit the ground a few feet from me as I ran. I really hoped I wouldn't get shot. I needed to find this shooter.
Finally I found him. Just outside the fence in a tree was a man in black. He had a big gun that looked powerful. I knew nothing about these things so I had no idea what type but I knew it was way more powerful than my pistol.
As I sprinted towards the fence, the man knew what I was trying to do. Shots flew past my ears as he attempted to stop me. I screeched every time and dodged to the other side which I knew would do nothing but I attempted anyway.
The closer I got the more scared I became. There was no way I was going to make it to the man without him shooting me but I needed to try. I was giving up hope when all the sudden a wolf joined me. He was big and strong with dark gray and black fur. I recognized his eyes when he looked at me. It was Robert Starke, Eden's dad. He blinked slowly at me once before sprinting ahead and clearing a path for me. Other wolves were starting to notice me and tried to stop my attempts to run to the gate.
Now that I had an alpha on my side I was filled with confidence. I knew he wouldn't be able to do anything against the bullets but at least I wouldn't get mauled. We were almost to the gate when it happened. One shot rang out. It was a clean shot and went right through Robert's head. He did not make any noise as he flew downward onto the ground. Even in death he was graceful and strong. It was quick but I could see the agony in his eyes before he became motionless. I screamed for him.
------
Eden: I heard the shot and then felt the loss right after. I looked to my right and saw it. My father slumped to the ground and a pool of blood followed. That's when I noticed her. Lea was stopped in her tracks right behind him. She screamed in terror and I feel the panic radiating off of her body. Why was she out here I wondered. Dani was supposed to be keeping an eye on her. As if I summoned him, Dani joined me. I was angry with him and I'm sure he could sense it. I couldn't do anything about it now though and turned my attention back to my girlfriend. That's when I saw the gun in her hand. She was going to attempt to kill the shoot. I feared though that she would get shot first.
Without thinking, I sprinted full force towards her. I needed to protect her. I needed her safe. She was running now too. But she was running out the gate. Then she stopped. I saw her line up her shot. There was no way this guy who was shoot was going to let her end his life. There needed to be a distraction.
I began to bark and howl as I ran towards the man from the opposite direction. Dani saw what I was trying to do and did the same. Soon others from my pack joined in. We were causing a commotion that I hoped would distract the man just enough for her to get her shot. Sure enough, bullets were flying in our direction. Wolves went down around me but we kept it up. Our numbers were dwindling so I knew this would only work for so long. Still no shot from Lea came.
Then out of no where there was a rumbling coming from the road. Seven vans screeched to a halt just outside the gate where Lea was. I panicked at first before I realized it was the Volkov's. Our allies had came at last. Wolves piled out of the vehicles in numbers. They had created their own distraction.
------
Lea: as Eden created the distraction I fiddled with the gun. It was a lot harder than I thought it would be. My stomach began to clench as panic filled my senses.Just then I heard it. Vans, a bunch of them, were barreling towards me. Fright stopped me in my tracks. As they came to a stop though, they payed no attention to me. Gunshots rang out in this direction again at the vans. That made me realize that these people were on our side.
Now was my chance to shoot, finally I got the trigger unlocked and was able to line up my shot. I held the gun up with both hands and closed one eye. I lined it up to the man's head. He seemed to have forgotten all about me. I took a long breath, put my finger on the trigger, and shot. The bullet hit its mark. It was a lucky shot and I realized that as the man fell out of the tree. Wolves from the van jumped on him as he landed for good measure. Before I had time to celebrate, pain struck and I fell sideways on my back. A wolf's teeth were deep into my shoulder. I let out a scream before blacking out.
