Tonight was the 8th grade barbecue, which was fun. When all the parents left, we pushed all the tables and chairs up against the back wall and the 7th graders started arriving for the last dance before the semi-formal. The first slow song was "Where You Are" by Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey. [Wait. They had a song together?! I guess this was before the absolute gem of a reality disaster that was Newlyweds.]
Steven came up to me and we started dancing. A little while into the song, he said, "Emily." "What." "Will you go out with me." He said it in the same tone he had said, "Emily." "Yes!" I said, smiling. "You knew that was coming, didn't you?" He was smiling, too. We talked throughout the rest of the song.
The next slow song was "I Turn to You" by Christina Aguilera. I said, "Can this be our song?" "Yeah, okay!" He agreed. I love that song. We danced on every slow song after that. On the last song, I wanted so badly for him to kiss me! Our mouths were right next to each other! But we were both too nervous, I guess. Oh, well. Maybe tomorrow!
