"So, I died?"
Alexis was sitting in between Moriah and Joel, asking questions about the past she never knew.Moriah kept pulling tissues out of a Kleenex box that Luke was holding. But, it wasn't for her. It was for Alexis.
"How did I die?" Alexis sniffed and leaned on Moriah's shoulder. Moriah rubbed Alexis's shoulder. "The doctors said you had a heart problem. Your heart stopped beating, and you died in my arms." Joel, covered his face. He just couldn't remember what happened, it was heartbreaking."Then how did I come back?" Alexis looked into Moriah's eyes with her hazel, warm eyes. Moriah smiled, and Joel spoke softly. "It was a miracle from God." Alexis smiled through her tears, sniffing and blowing her nose softly.
Moriah gave Alexis another side hug. "Is there any more questions, sweetie?"Alexis sniffed and wiped a tear. She shook her head and gave her real mother a little grin. "There is still so many, but I think I had enough events today." Joel smiled and kissed his daughters forehead. Alexis smiled and hugged her dad.
She felt something amazing when she was near her real parents. She felt something warm, comfortable, beautiful. She felt love, unconditional love. And she didn't want that feeling to ever leave.
After what seemed like hours, the concert had finally finished. Moriah, Joel, and Luke weren't the only performers tonight. Casting Crowns, Building 429, MercyMe, and Hillsong UNITED.
It was almost eleven at night, and the concert had finally ended. Which meant Alexis had to stay with Joel and Moriah.
Which meant, she had to leave Helen and Dylan Carter.
"Well, we must be going. Besides, tomorrow is Saturday, and I have a special meeting with James." Helen smiled and gave Alexis one last hug. She kissed her forehead. "Goodbye Lexi. I'm so glad I had the chance to raise you."
Alexis felt tears stinging her eyes. She bit her lip. "I'll miss you to." Alexis began to cry, gasping in air. Helen pulled her in a hug, a gentle one. Alexis cried into her shoulder.
Helen tried comforting her. "Don't cry, Lexi. Your finally home, sweetie. They'll take care of you." Alexis still cried silently.
She was going to leave her adoptive parents. The ones who raised her and cared for her. The ones who loved her. Helen parted, tears trailing on her face. She smiled sadly at Alexis. "Lexi, listen to me." Alexis's crying turned into sniffs. Helen sniffed as well.
"I want you to know, that no matter what happens, don't forget about me." Alexis nodded, her tears flying everywhere. She cried and hugged Helen.
"You'll always have a special place in my heart." Dylan and Helen hugged Alexis, and parted. They walked away to the exit. They turned around and waved goodbye at Alexis. Alexis let hear tears escape her eyes, she gave a sad smile and waved good bye.
Moriah and Joel walked up next to Alexis.
She couldn't contain this hurt, and she burst into tears. Moriah and Joel hugged and kissed her, comforting her.It worked a little, but Alexis still felt broken.
It was their last goodbyes.
