I shook a little at the thought of the abyss he'd pulled me into. It felt like I was dying when I witnessed his memories. I couldn't see or feel myself, I was just a floating gas in the atmosphere. I hated the feeling, but in a way it was cool. I was a science person, so it confused me beyond belief. It still was a pretty damn good trick though. I wonder what other powers he had in him. I pulled the duvet up and closed my eyes. Something told me I was going to need this sleep.

"Coffee." Was the first word that came out of my cold lips the morning I woke up. I could smell the thick scent in the air and now more than ever I was desperately craving some caffeine in my system. I got up and headed towards the kitchen. I saw Nathan already dressed for the day with his Adidas sweatpants and a plain white shirt.
“How are you feeling,” He rose an eyebrow at me as I walked in. He sipped his coffee from a chipped Yankee’s mug.
“Just peachy.” I replied while staring at his coffee like a predator would stare at a rare pray they hadn’t gotten the chance to sink their sharp claws into. He noticed my stare and smiled a bit. He pointed to the coffee maker and I smiled when I realised he had made enough for me, seconds, and thirds. If I was lucky maybe even fourths.
“That’s a horrible team by the way.” I said as I sat down. He looked confused, I pointed at the mug he was holding.
“Oh this, I got it at the thrift store. Thought it was a cool design, never realised it was a team.”
“Oh good, because the Boston Red Sox are beast at baseball.” He gave me the confused look again and I just shrugged my shoulders.
“Sorry love, but I don’t follow baseball or any other sport for that matter. I’m still new to this world.” And he just had to bring that up. I was enjoying the blissful moments we were having where I could pretend he was human and we were just a normal pair who argued a little too much. “I should get back to the story, there is information that is mandatory that you should know. My past isn’t as important as I make it sound. There are other things in this world that could potentially put you into danger. And I can’t risk that.” The calm look he had plastered on when I first saw him this morning had vanished. It was almost disappointing how he got down to work so fast.
“Alright.” I nodded, the sooner we got this over the better. He took my hand and a slight shiver passed through me. I hope it had to do with the feeling of going into the abyss again, and not Nathan’s hand on my own.
“Last time was your first, it won’t be as bad this time.” I nodded again as he performed the procedures. His eyes flashed golden and we were off in the black lifeless abyss.

His screams of pain echoed through the walls of the dirty dungeon like room. Maroon blood was oozing it’s way down the boy’s shoulders and down his pale back, onto the stoned floor. He could feel the light seeping out of him as she kept pulling at the purest part of him. That wasn’t the worst part though, the worst part of it all was hearing the light crunching noise as his most treasured possessions fell on the floor. The pain upon his shoulders wasn’t anything compared to the pain his eyes witnessed when he saw the blood soaked pure wings fall. He kept in the scream that was breaking at his throat, as Nicoletta stood staring, with the tiniest amount of pity in her eyes.
“Well at least the worst part is over, come now Nathaniel.” He followed the angel out of the room, he barely felt anything touch his bare feet as he walked down the pebble clad hallway. She led him into a blacksmith’s room. She went up to a fire pit and turned to him. “Now I think you know what you are doing in this room, but if you don’t I am required to inform you.” He bowed down his head and she continued. “Here you will receive the ancient symbol of the sun, banishing you from this world officially.” The boy nodded as the she - angel grabbed his wrist, pulling it towards the fire pit. She got out a iron marked with the sun symbol that had been laying in the undistinguished pit for about 600 years, the last time an angel had fallen.
“You will immediately be banished after this is burned into your skin, it will appear as a tattoo to the mortal eye. We can’t have them thinking about the paranormal now can we?” She chuckled and brought the iron close to his arm. He could already feel the heat radiating off from the iron.
“Good-bye Nathaniel.” She pushed the iron into his arm and he screamed at the pain the iron burned into his skin. His eyes closed as he was transported to a dump. His arm was burning and his back was bleeding. Welcome to life of a fallen angel he thought as he walked the streets of the small town.
