Sitting on the train, deep in thought, Ladd Russo lit a cigar between his lips, gazing thoughtfully out the window. It was one of the few times he had time for just himself, only one of his colleagues sitting in the cushioned seat before him.
His blue eyes were glazed over as the scenery rushed by them, and his once innocent thoughts suddenly turned into memories from long ago.
***1918, America***
Times were great. The Great War had been won, which to all Americans - both born in the borders or out - was extremely awesome and they all spent what they could. The war had brought a lot of economic and industrial change in their country, which was all very helpful in their new way of life. They especially loved the fact that everyone now looked to them for help. Some were wary of the new spotlight, of course, but most turned a blind eye to them.
Immigrants from across the world pooled on every side, though that was quickly stopped once the president passed a few acts here and there. But it didn't stop some on slipping through unnoticed.
One of those lucky ones that did happen to pass through was a young Japanese-(E/T) woman named Himura (Y/N). She hid in one of the many crates that was shipped to the Golden Country from her homeland of Japan, leaving no trace behind. In her belongings was a spare kimono, a brush, a picture of her mother and father, and her prized family katana. It was passed down from her father, who gave it to her with great pride only three years before his untimely death.
Exiting from the boats undetected, the young girl managed to get away without being seen, slipping through the shadows of the night as Japanese sailors continued to unload the boxes onto awaiting machines. No one had seen her that night, nor any after, for she left deep into the city and began to look for work.
**************
It didn't take long to find a job. Her boss was surprised at first, seeing her appear out of no where, her black hair tied up in a traditional bun with only a few hairs slipping into her face, a midnight blue kimono. But after explaining her preference and showing her expertise, her job was fairly simple. All she had to do was act normal until her job was isolated enough for her to swoop in and kill them.
This job led her to him.
Her person-to-kill was a fairly annoying man who owed her boss thousands of money. He used it to gamble and buy women who clearly had little tastes for themselves. (Y/N) disguised herself in western clothing, which disgusted her to no end. Whoever thought wearing something so revealing before marriage were truly perverted.
She made herself look as if she wanted a man at her side, specifically someone like her target. To her luck, she caught his puny eyes and she smirked behind her hand, acting shy as he swaggered over drunkenly to her side. What happened next truly stunned her though.
As soon as he was only a foot away, her target's head exploded, blood raining onto her porcelain face which twisted from surprise to anger. The body dropped to the ground, scarlet pooling onto the bar's floor. All around people screamed in fright at the sight and ran out of the building, all that was left was (Y/N), the cooling body, the frightened bartender and the man that took away her kill.
