John's father was an obsterician at the hospital where the Holmes brothers were born, and John's inspiration to become a doctor. He delivered Sherlock on a day when John, then six, was at work with him. Sherlock was the first time John had held baby and while he still remembers, he doesn't know it was Sherlock.
