"Do you know who my father is?" the teen asks her mother.

"Y-yes... honey and I'm sorry that I still haven't explained all of this to him."

"Why didn't you tell him about me?" seriousness takes over and the girl begins to cry.

"I was scared that since it was only a one time thing, he would've left anyways."

Lexie shook her head, acknowledging the fact that Mariska really was scared. She didn't know how, but Lexie somehow sensed that Mariska was telling her the truth.

"Hey, listen to me. Everything's gonna be all right."

"Can I please know who he is?"

"I'll tell you when the time is right," Mariska said to her daughter as she embraced her. "I'm sorry I missed 14 years of your life. I really am. So, what's your full name?"

"Alexis Shae Locke."

"That's a beautiful name."

"Sounds even better with Hargitay. Trust me, I've been saying it my whole life," Lexie said as both girls laughed.

"It does sound good...Alexis Shae Hargitay," Mariska smiled. Her daughter looked over at her, but she looked hurt.

"I'm sorry, Lexie," Mariska tells her daughter after a few minutes of silence.

"For what?"

"For not taking care of you like a mother should."

"I know you think I don't get it, but I do. You did it because it's what felt right. You did it because... it's a motherly instinct. You thought I would be better off that way. I get it. I don't hate you, trust me... I don't," Mariska couldn't believe what just came out of her daughter's mouth.

"There wasn't a day that went by that I didn't think about you."

"Hey, same here," Lexie said as the two laughed again.

"There's one thing we have in common," Mariska said.

"You're kidding me, right? Look at us... we look exactly alike. The only difference is my eyes. I'm your blue-eyed mini me."

"Okay... you're right. Anyone could look at us and tell you're my daughter," Mariska said and the two hugged.

"I love you, Mom." Lexie said after a few minutes. Mariska was shocked and began crying. She called her 'Mom'.

"I love you too, Lex," Mariska said as she wiped her tears away and smiled at her daughter.

Then, Lexie's phone went off with a text message from Alice saying 'Where are you?'.

"Who's that, Lex?" Mariska asked.

"Alice. She wants to know where I am and I'm telling her I'm with you," Lexie said as she texted back saying she was with Mariska, then her phone messed up.

"Ugh, this stupid phone!" Lexie yelled.

"What's wrong with it?" Mariska asked as she looked at her daughter.

"It freezes up like this all the time. I've had it for about 3 years. It's so old!"

"How about we get you another one in the morning?"

"Really?"

"Yes, of course."

"No, I can't let you do that," Lexie said as she shook her head.

"It's nothing, really."

"Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!" Lexie screeched as hugged her mother tightly. Mariska smiled and hugged her daughter back. Lexie's phone went off again. It read:

'I don't feel comfortable about you being with that woman any longer than you have. I want you home, now, young lady.'

"What's she saying, honey?" Mariska said as she seen her daughters mood change in an instant.

"She said that she doesn't feel comfortable about me being with you and she wants me home now."

"Sweetie, maybe she's right. After all, you've spent your whole life with her. She's your mother."

"No, she's not my mother. You are. Yes, I've spent my whole life with her, but I want to be with you from here on out."

"Really?" Mariska asked softly. Lexie just nodded. "You know what? Text her and tell her that you're spending the night with me."

"What? Seriously?" a huge smile appeared on Lexie's face.

"Yes," Mariska smiled.

Lexie texted Alice back saying she was spending the night with Mariska, no matter what.

It was getting a little late and the both of them were tired. Mariska saw her daughter yawn and then rub her eyes. "You ready to head to bed?" she asked her daughter.

"Yeah. I'm a bit tired."

"Alright let's go."

"Where am I gonna sleep?" Lexie asked her mother.

"Anywhere you want, Lex."

"Can I sleep with you?" the girl asked Mariska. Mariska was almost in tears by the fact her daughter, a teenager, wanted to sleep with her.

"Of course," Mariska said as Lexie followed her mother to her bedroom.

The two girls changed standing right in front of each other. The both put on just a big shirt and climbed into bed together.

Mariska immediately put her arms around her daughter and kissed her forehead. "I love you, Lexie...so much."

"I love you too, Mom," Lexie smiled. "I hope it's okay if I call you that."

"Mom? Of course it is," Mariska smiled. "Want me to turn on the tv?"

"Sure. I don't mind... can we watch a movie?" Lexie asked.

"Of course, what do you want to watch?"

"It doesn't matter to me... whatever's on I guess."

"All right... let's see. There are horror movies... romance..."

"Ooh either of those are fine by me," the teenager said to her mom as they flipped through everything on demand.

"Ahh I see we have the same taste in movies as well... definitely my kid," Mariska said as the two laughed their same, adorable laugh.

They then put on a horror movie. Insidious: Chapter 3. They didn't really pay all that much attention to the movie. They paid more attention to each other.

The young girl got closer to her mother and they cuddled together. Lexie had her head on her mother's chest and their arms were around each other.

Mariska placed a kiss on her daughter's head as they became closer. This was a true mother-daughter relationship.

After years of not seeing each other and just figuring out that someone you loved so much was your mother... that takes a toll on your life and you have to cope somehow... this was their way of coping.

"Alice and Bryce... are they going to take me away from you? Are they going to want custody of me? Because I don't want to go with them. I want to be with you."

"We'll worry about that tomorrow, okay?" Mariska told her daughter as the girl shook her head in agreement.

"What if I'm not really your daughter? And us looking alike is just a coincidence?" Lexie asked.

"We'll get a DNA test first thing in the morning, but I have a very strong feeling you are. A mother knows her child," Mariska smiled and kissed her daughter on the head.

Lexie was soon asleep and Mariska began thinking...what if they did want custody of Lexie? What would she do? She had to face Alice and Bryce at some point. Tomorrow was going to be stressful... Mariska has so much on her plate right now. She also has to tell Chris about his unknown daughter at some point in time... right?
