"Yes, yes we do, sis." I replied.
Haley rolled her eyes. "Can't you go to his house and be annoying there?"
I shook my head. "No, Layla's sick."
"Then go outside or something. Just get away from me." Haley disappeared.
"Mom!" I yelled. "Haley's in one of her moods again!"
Mom appeared around the corner. "She's always in a mood. She's a senior. Just ignore her."
I sighed and followed Sam into the kitchen. I made bacon and he got the juice.
"Ready for that History test today?" I asked as we both sat down at the little breakfast table stools.
"Nope." He answered. "You know me, I never study."
I flicked his head. "Bad boy!"
"What the fuck was that?" Sam laughed. "We're not seven."
I laughed too. "I don't know. We always used to do that to each other when we were little so now it's just kind of a reflex."
Sam ate his bacon quietly. It was too quiet. I knew something was going to happen.
Boom!
I just didn't think it was going to happen to me. I was on the floor with my stool tipped over. Sam and I were both laughing hysterically. He had kicked my stool with his foot by accident and I fell over.
Mom came running in. "Are you OK?"
"Yes." I managed to say in between laughs.
"What happened?" She asked.
I couldn't talk.
"She just kind of fell." Sam said.
Mom nodded and walked away.
A few minutes later, Sam and I finished our breakfast.
"We should get going." He said.
"It's seven fifteen." I stated. "We'll be super early."
Sam shrugged. "Can't we go for a drive?"
"Fine!" I agreed.
I grabbed my school bag, said bye to my mom, and then Sam and I left. We got into my 2006 Hybrid SUV and I pulled out of the driveway. I was still new to driving and I almost hit Haley's little red convertable. Thankfully, I didn't. Mom and Dad wouldn't have been mad but Haley would have killed me.
"So." I said. "Where do you want to drive to?"
"Oh, nowhere. I just wanted t get t school early." Sam answered.
I groaned. "What?!"
"Yeah." Sam laughed.
"I can't wait until your mom lets you get your license." I muttered.
He smiled smugly. "But my mom won't let me until I'm eighteen. That's a whole two years."
Sam and I turned sixteen about a month ago. I passed my driver's test right away. He, on the other hand, failed three right away. His mom said that she was disappointed and his punishment would be that he couldn't get his license until he was eighteen. So who gets to drive him all around everywhere? Yup, me.
"I'm so lucky." I replied sarcastically.
We got to school ten minutes later and it just so happened to be the time all of Sam's friends got to school too.
"Hey, there's Jaden and Mark." Sam said as I parked. He practically jumped out of my car.
I got out of my car slowly and made my way over to Sam and his friends. I stood next to him and he put hi arm around my shoulder. They were talking about football or something that had to do with sports.
"Ohmigod!" Some girl screeched.
I mentally rolled my eyes. I knew exactly who it was.
"Piper!" They yelled. "Piper, over here! It's me, Ilana." She grabbed my arm and pulled me away from Sam.
"Piper?" Sam asked as Ilana dragged me away.
I shrugged and gave him a look.
He waved and turned back to his friends.
"Piper!" Ilana repeated. "You look absolutely fab today!"
"Thanks." I mumbled.
She started whispering. "Are you and Sam together?"
"You ask me this everyday." I answered. "No, we're just best friends."
Ilana squeaked. "Oh, good, because I know someone who has a huge crush on him."
"Who?" I asked getting worried.
She smiled. "Me!"
My heart nearly stopped. "You like him?"
"Yes!" Ilana exclaimed.
Well, OK then. This just all of a sudden got awkward. I thought. "You know what, Ilana?" I paused. "I should really get going. I'll see you around maybe?" I started walking away. "Bye!"
Whoa. So, Ilana, the most annoying girl at my school, likes Sam, my best friend? I thought as I walked into the school building. Tons of other girls like Sam too though. And it's not like Sam actually likes Ilana. She's annoying. He won't fall for her. Or will he?
