The dinner went well, for Kai that is. 
But for Yoona? She's not. Definitely not.
"I guess this is goodbye. It was nice having to spend some dinner with your family Mr. Kim" Yoona's father said with a smile and Kai's father nodded his head before offering the other a handshake. Gladly accepting it, Mr. Im turned to Kai and gave him a smile. 
"I already know what your answer is to my quesion young man. But let me ask again.. do you really love our daughter?" Mr. Im asked and Kai looked at everyone only to see them giving him expectant smiles, well Yoona's not included of course. She's still having that frown on her face making Kai sigh, somposing himself. 
He faked a smile. 
"Of course I do sir.. I love your daughter. She's my life" Kai answered while looking straight into Yoona's eyes and from the way he can see it, she's gotten madder. "I know.. and I can see it. So.. we'll take our leave now. I hope this wopn't be our last dinner" Yoona's father said and Kai's parents nodded their heads. 
"It wouldn't be a problem especially that Yoona and Kai's dating" Kai's father said confidently and Kai, upon hearing it sighed. How would he be able to tell them the truth now? How can he tell them the truth when they're already expecting a bit too much from his and Yoona? 
He just made her hate him more. He knows that. 
He hates himself too. 
"You're right there.. so.. we'll leave. Are you coming Yoona? Or are you going with Kai?" Yoona's father asked and when Yoona was about to speak up. Kai's mother already cut her off. "I think it's better if these kids will spend some time together first, after all it's their school break right?" Kai's mother said and Kai faked a smile. 
Yoona on the other hand sighed, Kai's mother already told her earlier back at the dinner that she likes her for her son and Yoona doesn't even know how to say no. She wanted to tell them, she wanted to tell everyone what's really going on with her and Kai but she's afraid that she second she did, her father will already set her up for marriage and no, she doesn't want that.
"I.." Kai said while glancing at Yoona who now have a stoic face on. 
"Alright.. drive her home safely" Mr. Im said before walking away leaving his daughter behind and Kai on the other hand sighed. "We'll go too" Kai's father announced and walked away together with his mom. Letting out a frustrated groan, Kai ruffled his hair and looked up completely forgetting that Yoona's standing  beside him. 
"I'm out of here" She said barely audible and stopped what he's doing. Watching Yoona's figure slowly grow smaller and smaller with his line of sight, Kai suddenly realized everything. No, he's not going to let her go anywhere anymore. She's the only way that made him feel this way and he's definitely sure that it's Yoona that he wants to build a future with.
Running with all his might, Kai catched up and held Yoona's wrist making her turn around. Just as she did, Kai immediately leqaned in and kissed her and in reflex, Yoona quickly slapped him away causing him to go back to his senses. 
Staring into nothing, Kai pressed his tongue on the inside of his cheeks and chuckled bitterly. 
"I deserve it" He said before looking at Yoona who now retreated her hand back with tears brimming on her eyes. 
"I.." Yoona trailed but then after she quickly realized what she's about to say, she stopped talking and turned around to way away. 
"You're going to leave me.. fine.." Kai said making Yoona stop from taking any further step away from him. "That just shows that you didn't really love me" Yoona muttered and Kai sniffed before shaking his head and staring at her back, Kai chuckled bitterly again. 
"Really? Because for all I know it's only you that made me feel this way. Tell me.. isn't this love?" Kai asked and Yoona clenched her fist and shut her eyes tight as tears strolled down her cheeks. She hates their situation now, she's hurting badly and she can't find a way to hide. 
"Just leave" Yoona said and was about to take a step forward when Kai engulfed her into a hug from the back and buried his face on her shoulder while sobbing hard. "Really? Because it sounded more like..  'don't leave me' to me" Kai said and Yoona held Kai's arms and tried to pry it open but his hug just tightened. 
"I'm sorry" He said and Yoona took a deep breath. 
"I forgive you.. but.. let's just.. be friends" Yoona said and Kai's hug loosened. Taking it a chance to turn around, Yoona forced a smile even when she's badly hurting inside. She hated seeing them be this way but as much as she does, she's afraid that something like this might happen in the future again and she doesn't want that to happen, not when she's already attached to him. 
"No.. I lost you once and I'm not going to lose you again" Kai said with his eyes full of pain and Yoona furrowed her brows. Wiping her tears with the back of her hands, Yoona gave him a confused look. "What?" Yoona asked not knowing what he meant. 
Lifting his hand up, Kai held out his pinky finger while his hands are trembling. Taking Yoona's hand, Kai intertwined their pinky finger together, pressed the thumbs before intertwining it causing Yoona to stand frozen in her place. Looking at their intertwined hands and back to Kai, Yoona suddenly felt the urge to hug him and so she did, she hugged him. 
Tight. 
"Y-You're.." Yoona said but before she can finished her sentence, Kai already ended it for her. 
"I'm back" He said and Yoona cried harder not knowing what to do. Pulling away, Yoona cupped his cheeks and looked at him with worry, anger vanished and now it was replaced with joy, longingness and a hint of worry. 
"H-How.. did you manage.. how.. I " Yoona said with so much confusion as her hands travelled on his shoulder and back to cupping his cheeks. Smiling a little, Kai held her hands in place and chuckled a little. Removing his other hand from holding hers, Kai wiped her tears away for her. 
"Remember? 11 years ago.. I was sick.. and.. since your mom.. since your mom was one of the major sponsors at that hospital we accidentally met? Remember?" Kai asked and Yoona furiously nodded her head clearly remembering how she met this kid who has been staying up at the hospital because of his sickness, a heart disease that is, they eventually grew closer and turned to be the best of friends but since that kid had to go overseas they have to part ways but she still clearly remembers how they made that pinky promise that he's going back to her if ever he survives.
"I.. I got the treatment and now here I am. Fulfilling my promise, I survived because of you" Kai said followed by a chuckled and Yoona nodded her head and hugged him as tight as she can. All the anger, all the pain it all vanished because she doesn't see Kai that way anymore, she sees him as the most important guy in her life. 
The guy that made a promise that he'll go back to her when he survives from death and now there he is, standing infront of her, hugging her back, fulfilling his promise to her.
"I'm sorry.. I'm sorry I didn't know" Yoona said and Kai silenced her with his lips and Yoona just kissed back and poured all her longingness for him. "It's not your fault.. although.. I have been waiting for you to realize it" Kai said before letting out a chuckle and Yoona buried her face on his chest. 
"I'm sorry.. it took me so long to realize that it was really you" Yoona mumbled and Kai kissed her head letting it linger there for a while. "It's alright.. what's important now.. is that you know" Kai said and Yoona hugged him tight before nodded her head. 
"Yoona?" Kai asked and Yoona broked their hug before giving him a questioning look. 
"What is it?" Yoona asked. 
"Am I.. Am I already forgiven?" Kai asked hesitantly while scratching his nape and Yoona smiled mischievously before walking away. "Hmm.. not so easy" Yoona said teasingly before walking away and Kai shook his head as he chuckled. 
Trailing after her, Kai put his hands on his back and gave her a questioning look. 
"Let's.. go out tomorrow then. Let me prove to you that I'm honest and you can give me your answer" Kai offered and Yoona chuckled before stopping her pace. "I think I might be busy tomorrow" She said with her face scrunched up and Kai pouted. 
Of course it didnt go unnoticed by Yoona. Shaking her head, Yoona walked back to Kai and pinched both of his cheeks before giving him a grin.
"Alright.. a date it is then"
