The feast was always the welcoming part of being back at Hogwarts. When Hermione was done and full, she glanced around towards the Slytherin table and caught Draco wink at her.
So, this was Draco Malfoy after all?
Not being able to stop herself, Hermione winked back.
"Hey, Hermione. Can I ask you a question?" Dennis Creevey smiled up at her.
"Sure Dennis."
"I just wanted to know, how's Harry?"
"He's perfect, Dennis. He's an Auror now."
"Of course! Harry Potter was destined to be an Auror! He defeated Voldemort."
"He wouldn't have been able to, if the students and teachers hadn't fought along with him."
Dennis nodded. Hermione could see the sadness in his eyes.
"I'm very sorry for your brother, Dennis. He died a hero's death." She couldn't help but say.
"It's all right. He's probably in a better place already."
"Yeah."
There was an awkward silence between them, amidst the chattering in the Great Hall. Hermione caught sight of Cho, who gave a wave seeing Hermione. Waving back, Hermione grinned.
"Attention everyone!" Professor McGonagall said, as all attention diverted to her.
"Your timetables shall be provided tomorrow morning. I trust every one has feasted to their heart's content? We can proceed to the Dormitories then."
*
It was impossible for Hermione to sleep. The Girls' Dorm was full and every one was sleeping in their warm beds.
Instead of forcing herself to sleep, she sat calmly in front of the window, knowing well enough that forcing herself to sleep would take her nowhere.
Her gaze followed the stars. Hermione wondered whether she should have came to Hogwarts at all? Was Ron really upset because of Draco? Was she doing the wrong thing when defending Draco? Was he really worth upsetting Ron for?
Questions flooded her mind, and she tried to shake them off. But still what if ...

Strong light hit Draco's eyes, as he gained consciousness.
"Blaise - what the!" He said, as Blaise said, "Nox."
"What are you doing? You almost blinded me with the wand light!" Draco shouted at him.
"Hush up cry baby. Where's the Draco I knew? I want an adventure along the corridors! Grab your wand."
"No Blaise. You heard what the Headmistress said."
"Man! Are you saying you won't break the rules just because McGonagall said so?"
"I'm an ex-prefect. I'm supposed to stop people from breaking the rules, not break them myself." Draco said, sitting up.
"Ex prefect? You were a rule breaker when you were the prefect. Get up you boring slug!"
"Okay. Fine! But we aren't going out of the castle."
"Deal!"
*
Hermione couldn't get the questions out of her head, so she got up and out of the Dormitory.
"Where are you going?" The Fat Lady asked. "Shh!" She put her fingers to her lips.
*
"Where in the name of Merlin's beard are we going?" Draco asked annoyed.
"To the third floor corridor."
"What! Why?"
"Because its empty, you fool."
Draco found his feet following Blaise to the staircase leading to the third floor corridor.
It was pleasant here, now that they were out of the dungeons.
Draco looked around, catching sight of someone going about across Gryffindor Tower.
"Another adventurer?" Blaise joked, following Draco's gaze. "I think she looks familiar."
She turned around to meet Draco's eyes.
"G-Granger?"
"What are you doing here, you mudblood!?" Blaise said coldly.
"Don't call her a mudblood." Draco said in a dangerous voice.
"What? Are you kidding me?" Blaise laughed.
"I said don't call her a mudblood, and I mean it!"
"Shh! Hear that?" Hermione hushed them both up.
"I think I heard someone, Mrs. Norris."
"Filch!" The three of them said together.
"Let's go!" Draco grabbed Hermione's arm and ran for the third floor corridor, trying not to make noise.
"What! You're helping a mud-"
"Shut up!"
They ran to the nearest classroom in sight and shut the door, holding it shut with their bodies closely pressed with one another.
They could hear Filch's footsteps nearing, his voice echoing around the empty corridor, "Got them!" The lock turned. "I'll fetch the headmistress." He walked away, with Mrs. Norris following close behind.
"That bloody fool!" Draco mumbled.
"We have our wands." Hermione snatched Draco's wand .
"Alohomora!"
"Nice thinking."
"Do you guys even have a brain?" She said handing Draco's wand back to him and running back to the Gryffindor common room.
"Passwor-?"
"Albus Dumbledore!"
The portrait door slung open and Hermione shut it behind her, breathing deeply.
"Phew! That would've been double trouble."
