Jessica's Point of View

"Hello, how may I help you?" a friendly receptionist asked smiling.

"I am here to see Katt Brewer," I told her attempting to smile and not look tired.

She laughed without warning, "She is on the third floor room number 318. You will have no problem finding it."

"Why did you laugh?" I asked a tad bit offended.

She replied still smiling, " Isn't this your second time here in under a week?"

I thought about and answered, "Yes, but I don't find that funny."

I was a little frustrated. The fact that my wrist is broken and my best friend may be dying isn't finny.

The 'friendly' receptionist lost her smile and pointed me in the direction of the elevator. Maybe I shouldn't have spanned at her like that.

I rushed down the corridor heading straight for the familiar elevator until James, who I had completely forgot was with me, grabbed my arm signaling for me to wait up.

I waited just long enough for him to catch up and grab my hand in order to comfort me. I blushed as he squeezed; and became surprised when all my nerves calmed down just at the touch.

I pressed the button and waited and waited until the door slid open allowing us to enter.

The ride up to Katt's room seemed to take forever. I was very scared to see why I was summoned. I was asleep; James woke me, and showed me the text. As soon as I saw the text, panicked. Being the idiot I am, I decided to run to the hospital that was a fifteen minute drive away. I hadn't thought about how long of a run that would be or how exhausting it would be. Yeah, not my best idea.

The elevator beeped letting us know we had arrived to the third floor. I stepped out and James squeezed my hand again causing me to look over at his reassuring, smiling face.

There was a nurse heading into Katt's room who glanced over at me, "Are you Jessica?"

I nodded as she ushered me into the room.

Katt sat up as she heard the door open. I looked at the small, child sized girl lay in the bed that had been her home for almost a month. She was always skinny, but now she is even skinny. Her already pale skin was rather ghost like.  To say the least, she didn't look like her usual, happy self.

When she called my name, I looked over at her trying not to stare at her rudely. She looked so different.

"Jessica," Katt said quietly.

"Katt, are you okay?" I asked her James was still beside me.

I am sure this is overwhelming him, and I felt bad for dragging him along.

Katt nodded reassuring me, but didn't say anything else. I wanted to speak my mind and ask her why Laura texted me saying to come here, but I didn't ask her.

She looked at me with great concentration like she was reading my mind. I would be lying if I said it wasn't creeping me out, because it was.

"You want to know why Laura asked here." Katt asked after a few seconds of silence and after the nurse had finished her tests.

"Yes," I nodded eager for an answer.

She smiled at me the type of smile I hadn't seen in ages.

"I am being released in a little over a week," I said clapping her fragile hands. I didn't know her weak little body had that much strength.

A smile spread across my face as I heard the good news.

After some small chat that Katt, James, and I engaged in the nurse came into to tell us that we needed to leave, because Katt needed to get her rest and strength.

James and I left the room and made my way out the hospital.

Now for long walk home. Oh joy!

James walked beside me, and when we got to the fork in the road, he pulled me into the direction of the park and in the opposite direction of my house.

When I asked him why we were headed back to the park his reply was, "We left in such hurry, neither of us remembered the basket."

I laughed at my foolishness. What was expected? I immediately assumed the worst when I received that message.

I sighed. Now my long was turning into an even longer one. James heard my not so silent sighed and laughed at me.

After what seemed like an endless walk, we arrived to our spot at the park. Although it wasn't left how I remembered it.

James let out a hearty laugh when he saw all the food we hadn't eaten from our picnic in the far side of the playground where all the little kids were eating it.

I smiled at the little thieves picked up the basket and threw the blanket at James. We now had all of what was left of our picnic and were on our way home.

I was exhausted when we entered the house, so I went straight up to my room and did a belly flop on my bed.

"We should do something to celebrate," James suggested.

I looked at him and shrugged, "Sure, but since we have an extra day off tomorrow, let's do it then and not now. Plus I am getting tired and it is getting late."

James silently agreed, then laid down on his spot on the beanbag.

A/N: Hey People of wattpad! How did you like the chapter? Do you realize there are only two chapters left? I am so sad but so happy. I made this chapter and the previous one a little shorter, so I would have time to write the next two chapters. I want to be able to finish writing the book before I have to go back to school in less than a week so sorry for the lower quality chapters.

To be honest, I can't wait to write the sequel, but I won't be uploading it until it's been a month since this book is completed. That will give me time to work on Learning to Unlock my Heart Re-write (If you haven't read the teaser I uploaded a few days ago, I would appreciate it if you did). I hope all you guys will be reading the sequel!

I love and appreciate you guys so much!
