"You know what Harry I can't do this," Chelsea huffs, grabbing the keys to her Jeep.
"So what you're just going to leave?" Harry, her boyfriend of a year and a half, calls after her in anger.
"I just need to clear my head," Chelsea scoffs, turning only to throw daggers at him over her shoulder. "You know what that's like."
The door slams behind her as she races to the midnight blue Jeep Cherokee. Harry watches as she drives away, then throws his phone at the wall.
Chelsea turns up her favorite song by Tim McGraw, Highway Don't Care, and sloppily wipes at the tears blurring her vision. The more she wipes, the fuzzier her vision gets and she doesn't see the headlights coming right at her.
"It'll be okay mate," Niall comforts, holding a sobbing Harry in his arms.
"No it won't," he cries.
The lads had come over to comfort the sad Holmes Chapel boy, but it wasn't going very well. He wasn't listening to anything they were saying and words of encouragement only upset him more.
His phone rings, and Harry jumps to answer it, hoping its Chelsea. "Hello?"
"Mr. Styles?" the proper voice asks.
"Yes?" he answers, wiping the snot from his nose with his sleeve.
"We have you down as the emergency contact for Chelsea Grover," the lady says. "She's just recently been in a car accident and her injuries are severe. She's currently being relocated to London Royal Hospital."
"I'll be right there," Harry rushes out and hangs up the phone. It's only then that the words really hit him and he falls to his knees crying his heart out.
They all make it to the hospital, though Harry is still crying. Liam goes to reception and gets Chelsea's room number because Harry can't even breath he's crying so hard. Once they get to the ICU, they spot Chelsea's parents, who are also crying. Once her mum sees Harry, she rushes to him, enveloping him in a motherly hug and comforting the love of her daughter's life.
"It's all my fault," Harry sobs into her chest.
"Listen to me Harry," she says to him, grabbing his chin and forcing him to look at her. "My daughter loves you. No matter how much you fight, she will always love you. Her actions where her own, and all you can do is continue to love her and she'll get better."
Harry nods and hugs the older woman. They all sit in the waiting room for what feels like forever until the doctor comes out.
"She had a lot of internal bleeding, but we sewed up her wounds," he informs them. "There was blunt head trauma and her arm is broken in several places. Recovery could be up to 5 months, but she should wake up in a few days. She's stable if you would like to see her."
"Thank you doctor," Harry says before sprinting to the assigned room.
As soon as he lays eyes on his love, a sob is ripped from his throat. He throws himself onto the chair next to her bed and grasps her hand lightly. He brings it up to his lips and peppers it with sweet, delicate kisses.
"I'm so sorry Chelsea," he whispers to her, wanting her to know how much these words mean to him. "You deserve so much better than me. I promised to keep you safe but I failed you. This is all my fault."
Harry leans forward and kisses her forehead, lifting a hand and cupping her cheek. He runs his thumb over her cheekbone, making sure to be careful of the oxygen tube.
"I'm not sure if you can hear me, but I love you so much Chelsea," Harry says, brushing his lips along her cheek and to her ear. "With all my heart."
This is how it goes for three days. Harry apologizing and showering the unconscious girl in kisses and compliments. He doesn't leave her side for even a minute. He hasn't showered or eaten since the accident, but he's not hungry. He doesn't want to be gone when she wakes up. He can't wait to see her beautiful green eyes, and hear her sweet soft voice.
Chelsea stirs, her mind slowly regaining consciousness. She feels a familiar hand holding hers and uses all the strength in her body to give it a squeeze. It only comes out as a twitch, but Harry jumps into action, sitting up and leaning over her while bringing her hand to his mouth.
"Chelsea, I don't know if you can hear me, but I'm so sorry," Harry repeats the speech he has been giving her every day. "This is all my fault and you deserve so much more. I'm not good enough for you. You're so wonderful and smart and beautiful and amazing.
Please wake up love. I need you. I'm so sorry I failed to keep you safe like I promised. I love you so much I can't bare it," Harry whispers at the end. "Please don't leave me."
Chelsea's heart monitor has picked up pace, telling Harry she heard every word. He eagerly waits, his eyes darting over her features as she slowly and somewhat tiresomely opens her eyes.
The sight before her makes her eyes water. Harry is so amazing she can't believe how luck she is. Harry gasps at the sight of those beautiful green eyes he dreams about. He leans forward and kisses her forehead, making her eyes flutter shut.
Chelsea brings up all her energy and lifts a shaky hand, the one Harry isn't making all sweaty with his giant ones. She makes a loose and somewhat crooked because of her cast, 'I love you' sign with her hand, since she can't speak.
"I love you baby," Harry mutters. Chelsea's lips twitch at the corners, signaling she is trying to smile.
Harry let's out a choked up laugh, his eyes watering. He leans forward and presses a soft kiss to her non-reactive lips. He doesn't mind though, because her heart rate picks up and he can hear how much of an affect he has on her. From that simple kiss he knows just how much she loves him and he isn't going to let anything come between them again.
He pulls away and watches with a smile as she slowly flutters her eyes open. Harry carefully scoots her over and climbs on the bed next to her, careful not to put too much pressure on her injuries.
Her heart monitor picks up again and Harry gives her a cheeky grin, making her attempt to roll her eyes, which is really just her eyelids fluttering. He chuckles and scoots down on the bed. He knows how much she loves playing with his hair so he places her hand he was holding on his head, and reaches across her, and takes her cast covered hand, intertwining their fingers as best he can.
