I refused to be intimidated however continued to chat with the men around me. One female in particular, who had been introduced as Tanya, asked me what my job was. I told her that I designed jewelry. Her smirk grew wider, "A jewelry designer huh? Have you designed for anyone that I have heard of?" I shrugged and mentioned doing a line for Collette's. Judging from the look on her face, she had heard of her and that shut her up for a few seconds. "Did you make the earrings and necklace that you are wearing?" a very shy girl named Kelly asked me. I nodded and smiled at her. "How about your ring?" Kelly asked me. I told her that Collette has helped me with that. "It's so pretty." she sighed and snuck a little look at another young man close to her age named Paul.

Paul seemed oblivious to Kelly's crush on him, which was too bad because I thought that they would make a great couple. My bladder protested and I decided to excuse myself to the ladies room and invited Kelly to go with me. I touched Wyatt's arm and let him know so he kissed my forehead and told me to go ahead to our seats when I got back because he was going to go set up. Kelly and I went to the ladies room down the hallway from our convention room and after I washed and dried my hands I studied Kelly in the mirror. She really was a pretty girl, just not knowing how to present herself. She looked at her own reflection and sighed, "I wish that I was more like you. So put together and polished."

I shook my head and laughed, "Trust me, I don't roll out of bed this way. It took a while and some practice to learn how to tame my hair and what makeup to use. You definitely have the goods Kelly. You just have to learn how to market it. Especially if you want to catch Paul's attention." She looked at me in surprise, "Am I that obvious?" I told her no and felt my inner cupid wake up. Looking at her sizable purse, I asked her if there was any makeup in there. She nodded, "I have some stuff in there but I don't really know how to use it. I feel like I always end up looking like a hooker." I had Kelly spread her stuff out on the vanity in the front sitting room connected to the bathroom. Showing her how less is more and to use the off shades of green and brown to highlight her hazel eyes, I put a light amount of makeup on her. A little blush, rosy lipstick and mascara finished off her face. Her outfit of low heels paired with a knee length khaki skirt and white button up blouse wasn't a bad outfit but it seemed uptight. I had her unbutton the top button and rolled up her sleeves to her elbows. Using her hairbrush and some bobby pins, I redid her long light brown hair in a playful ponytail with a cheer poof in front.

"There! Now look at you!" I exclaimed. She smiled at her reflection with pleasure. The hairstyle complimented the shape of her face and the light makeup brought out her natural beauty. "You managed to make me look like an ad for Banana Republic! I love it!" Looking at the time on her watch, we hustled out of there and back into the convention room just in time to take our seats. We were at the same table but at opposite sides. Wyatt looked at me with concern until he noticed Kelly's transformation. A look of realization dawned across his face and he gave me a smile. He leaned over to whisper to me, "Did you just give her a makeover in the bathroom?" I nodded back and whispered back, "Doesn't she look great? And look at Paul. He can't take his eyes off of her!"

"My little matchmaker! Let's see if it works." he whispered back before taking my hand in his and the food started arriving. Thankfully it wasn't dried out chicken this time but a creamy pasta that was slightly edible and I picked at it. "I'll make this up to you afterwards. I'll get you something decent to eat." Wyatt whispered to me and I nodded absentmindedly. I was busy watching Paul and Kelly sneaking glances at each other. They gave us about half an hour with the food before the servers started to clear the plates. A man got up and started to thank everyone that came and introduced the first speaker. "I'm the second speaker." Wyatt told me. I nodded and tried to follow along with the presentation. I adjusted Wyatt's tie before he stood up to speak. I was fascinated with Wyatt's presentation. It was about a new program that he was launching and it seemed that the entire room was silent just listening to him with looks of interest. He clicked through some images on the screen while he spoke and when he was done, the applause was deafening. Wyatt looked a little embarrassed by the attention but proud of himself.

The next speaker went up while Wyatt sat down next to me again. I smiled and gave him a kiss on the cheek, "You were wonderful!" I told him. Finally the talks were done and I was glad to stand up again. Just about everyone came by to talk to Wyatt about his new program and it made me happy to see his success. I was so glad that he invited me to share it with him. Kelly bounced up next to me and grabbed my arm in excitement, "He asked me for a date!" she told me in a gleeful whisper. I patted her hand on my arm and smiled at her, "That's great Kelly! Just go to a makeup counter in the mall and they will give you lessons on how to wear makeup and what colors to buy. Most days I just wear a little bit of lip gloss and more when it's a special event like today." She thanked me before Paul came over to talk to her some more.

I excused myself to the ladies room again and I saw Tanya outside in the hallway as I made my way back to Wyatt. "The bathroom again?" she said smirking, "What are you bulimic or something?" I shook my head and laughed. "No, just pregnant." I said easily. I felt Wyatt's arms slip around my waist and a hand rubbed my lower stomach, "How's the little jellybean doing in there?" he asked me. Tanya stared at me in disbelief as I answered him, "We are both doing just fine." "Is that why you got engaged to her? Because you knocked her up?" she asked him. I felt Wyatt tense up behind me, "No, we got engaged first and then found out about the baby later," he said firmly, "Not that it's any of your business Tanya."

One of the older gentlemen had heard the whole exchange and walked forward to join us, "Congratulations Wyatt on finding such a beautiful and sweet lady to marry! A baby on the way is wonderful news," he said smiling at us. Turning to Tanya, he said, "Congrats are in order are they not Tanya? After all we don't want people thinking that people who work for my company are uncivilized, now do we?" Tanya's eyes widened and she paled slightly, "No, Mr. Barden." she said and her eyes went to Wyatt's. "Congratulations about the baby."

"Now Tanya, how is your little boy doing?" Mr. Barden said as he escorted Tanya away from us. Wyatt hugged me a little tighter and said, "Don't mind Tanya too much. She's a little bitter. Her boyfriend left her after she had the baby so she's skeptical about the whole relationship thing. I think that she might have had a little hope because I played with her kid one afternoon. I did tell her that I had no intentions of having a relationship with her."

Her story made me feel sorry for her, "That's so sad Wyatt. I can see why she would feel that way, but didn't you see the way Mr. Barden was looking at her? They should spend more time together." Wyatt burst out into laughter, "Wasn't playing cupid to one couple enough for you today?" I turned around to face him and smoothed my hands over his jacket, "I just want everyone to be as happy as we are." His eyes softened, "Of course you do darling." It was that moment that my stomach chose to let out a not so lady like grumble. We both laughed and went to get my jacket and his bag.
