The Uber dropped me off in front of a small stretch of shops that were stationed on a busy street. I remembered Cass saying she worked in a shoe store so that narrowed it down to about three stops. I peaked my head into the shoe store that was closest to me but I didn't see her so I moved on to the next one. There she was, lavender hair and all. I quickly walked into the store with my suitcase in tow waiting for her to look up and see me. When see finally looked up her face became ten times brighter. She darted around the counter and gave me a extremely tight hug. It was a bit awkward considering she is a full foot shorter than me.

"You're here!" she exclaimed her light purple hair falling in her face as she quickly push away from me. "Okay here's the deal. Adam is in Connecticut and mom is in Georgia visiting Aunt Karen. It's gonna be just you an me for the next two weeks. Girl time!" she gave me a nudge with her elbow in an attempt to get a smile out of me. I gave her what she wanted and flash my pearly whites. "My apartment is downtown and I get off work in about 2 or 3 hours so.. er  so maybe you can do some shopping while you wait? There's a Starbucks about 4 doors down if you get thirsty." she smiled and pointed in the direction I assume Starbucks was.

"Okay, no problem" I smiled and as I turned to leave she grabbed my suitcase.

"I'll keep it in the back till we leave"

"Oh! Okay, thanks." I smiled once more and walked out the door.

The sun was shining and there was a slight breeze blowing through my hair. California weather was amazing. After I left Cass' store I started to weave in and out of all the others. There were three shoe store, two clothing boutiques, one jewelry store, and a Starbucks. I did very little shopping just a pair of sandels and a cute bathing suit cover. I still have a while until Cass is free so I go into Starbucks for some coffee.

The place was a madhouse. There was no line but there was also nowhere to sit. I went up and ordered my drink then waited. When the barista called my name I grabbed my drink and quickly turned around giving the room a scan. My eyes find their way to a small table toward the back that had only a young looking man with blue hair sitting, staring at his laptop. Couldn't hurt to ask, right? He looks nice enough. I thought as I walk toward him. I took a deep breathe before I spoke.

"Excuse me?" I asked the man.

"Hm?" He didn't look up at me, just grunted.

"Er, there aren't anymore seats left in the cafe. Would you mind if I sat with you?" I gave him a small smile even though he hadn't been looking at me.

"Hm?" He looked up at me and just stared for a while.

"I'll.. uh take that as a no then." I smiled awkwardly and started to walk away when he stopped me.

"You can sit with me, it's fine" he said with a slight chuckle. Did I say something funny? And that voice, my word. His voice was deep and so smooth, like butter. It also sounded vaguely familiar. I wonder where I've heard it before. I sat down in the seat opposite him and we just sat in silence for a few minutes.

"I.. I'm (y/n)." I said with a big smile. He looked up from his computer at me, then immediately back down to the screen. I took a sip of my coffee trying not to seem too eager for him to respond.

"I'm Mark." He pushed his laptop to the side and extended his hand to shake mine and flashed me a massive smile.

"It's nice to meet you Mark." We shook and I returned the smile.

"Nice to meet you too, (y/n)."

"So, whatcha doing there?" I ask gesturing to his computer.

"Just doing some editting. Nothing too intense. Are you from around here?"

"Uh no, I'm from Jersey. Boring I know" I let out a light laugh at how lame I sound.

"What brings you to LA?"

"It's a long story, I guess..." I looked down at the table as the feeling that much awaited trip has backfired has backfired on me. When I looked back up at him he was watching me with a confused expression. I sighed and started to fiddle with the cover of my coffee cup. I see him close his computer and look at his phone out of the corner of my eye. Great I thought I've scared him off. I mentally scoff at myself.

"I've got time" He said with a big smile on his face.
