-Steel Tikes-
There are many things I can tolerate. I can tolerate the girls who stare at me, I accept my new friend Marlo (who honestly isn't as bad as everyone thinks... as far as I know) even though he needs to work on his cleaning skills (poor Bob and Bill RIP). I can even manage to tolerate that prick of a president. But I can not and will not have anyone hurt Merci Venus. Ever.
Enough was enough. I summoned my duel axes and they materialize in my hands. They were on sided long black and dark green blades. The green glowed and hum in my hand responding to my aura. My eyes glowed dark green. I saw the troll coming out of the ground and corner Merci. Rage took over and I slammed one of my axes to the ground. A thick oak tree sprouted from the ground in front of me and I aimed it at the troll. Soon the roots erupted from the ground and wrapped around its fist stopping it from hurting Merci.
"DONT YOU DARE TOUCH HER AGAIN!!" I growled. I had thick vines wrap around the whole troll and summoned my strength and tossed it across the gym. It smashed against the wall. I had my duel axes out. I looked at the president and the students and threatened, "If I hear a word about Merci that I don't like, You. Are. Next."
None of them argued.
I faced both of my enemies and heard Merci get up from behind me. "Stand back, Merci, I got this."
"N-No."
"I can do this!" I told her and rushed them. I slid between one of their legs and slashed one of them in the gluteus maximus. Not a very proper move but effective. The troll whined in pain and held on his behind while running away.
I was about to admire my hand work when I forgot about the Becky (Apparently that's what Merci calls it). Becky played his music louder.
The troll back handed me and I flew across the gym smashing into concrete wall. I was dazed for a bit but I brushed some of the stone slab off me. I growled in annoyance. I could feel the power of the forest rippling off me. I started to walk off but I felt Merci grab my arm.
"Steel, please."
"Stay back, Merci, I can---"
"I know your angry. I know you want to protect me but this is my fight too. You're being reckless and we need a plan. Please, I wouldn't be able to live with myself if something had happened to you or..."
Her voice broke. I look at her and realized how much will power she had for trying not to cry. I felt like an idiot and worst of all, a jerk. I was supposed to be her partner, not some over protective wannabe. As much as it scared me to see her get hurt again, I needed to have faith. I summoned a tree barrier to encase us and buy us sometime. I placed down my axe and look down. "I... I'm sorry I didn't mean---"
I felt her lips brush my cheek and she gave me a soft smile. She gently rubbed the dust and stone off my cheeks and held her hand there for a while. I had closed my eyes wondering if this was really happening and I was glad that when I opened them, it wasn't a dream. My heart was racing and I was probably a very horrible shade of red. "I know. I understand. But you can't let your anger get the best of you. We can do this together."
I nodded and held her hand. "Together." I said firmly.
I took down the barrier and ugly number one (Becky) and ugly number two (troll) were waiting for us. We stood side by side and I smirked. "Oi. I can understand why you're mad. If I was that ugly, I would be too."
Merci cracked a smile and that gave me the energy boost I needed. I slammed my axe to the ground and roots raced towards their legs and entangled them like cocoons.
"Merci, now!"
She nodded and rushed them. She was moving with speed I've never seen before and she slid between the legs of the troll and poor Becky got stabbed in the glut. It started crying and I almost felt sorry for it.
