My mind felt clouded when I felt myself begin to awaken. My throat was dry and my body felt cold, freezing actually. I tried shifting my body and felt a resounding ache in every muscle. I groaned lightly and then opened my eyes. The room I was in was dimly lit and the walls were all an off white color. I wasn't in a medical room but a regular bedroom with an IV hooked up to my arm and a heart monitor at my side. Someone had managed to save me. My mate.

I managed to sit myself up and was grateful for the many pillows stacked around me. The bedding was very plush and my hand at my side sunk slightly into the mattress. I felt like I was on a cloud, but still I was freezing. I tugged the comforter further up my body and then realized I wasn't in my own clothes. I was dressed in a large white male t shirt and black sweat pants. I sniffed the shirt and instantly felt warmth encase my body. It was my mate's scent. My heart bloomed.

I looked around the room more and knew this room belonged to no one before me, it must be a guest room. Everything was white, blush or cream colored and the carpet looked like it would be the softest thing I would ever touch besides this comforter. Everything was beyond neat and organized, I felt like I was inside a magazine catalog. I tried moving my body more and held back a groan of pain. I looked at my IV and gave it a flick or two, hopefully there was some pain medication in there. My mate would be the best cure but I had no idea where I was at the moment nor did I know the whereabouts of the man that I thought had been dead for the past two years. My mood turned sour but quickly was forced to shift as an alarm began to go off.

Lights I hadn't noticed before began to flash in the corners of the room I was in and a loud voice carried throughout the house, it sent chills throughout my body. It was my mate. "Rogues have breached the territory. All women and children report to the designated safety zones. I repeat..." The statement rang over the invisible speakers twice more and then the voice was gone and the sound of a siren took its place. A gas began to filter out of the walls and I panicked. What was happening? Was this poison? Are we under attack already? Is my mate safe? Is his pack safe?

I forced myself out of the bed and planted my feet onto the ground. My body wanted to give up instantly and rest but there was no time, we were under attack. I shook the pillow case off the nearest pillow and placed it over my mouth to filter as much of the gas surrounding me as possible. I bit my lip as I pulled the IV out of my arm and then used some of my remaining energy to heal the wound. I stumbled slightly and forced myself to the door. I reached for the handle and attempted to pull at its cold metal, it was locked. I pulled harder and harder but in my weakened state I couldn't break down a locked door nor rip it from its hinges.

I stepped away from the door and let my eyes wander the room. The gas had stopped flowing into the room and I didn't notice a change in my ability to breathe so I removed the pillow case from my mouth and took a slow breath. I felt fine but I could no longer smell anything. I felt odd being unable to smell anything but then realized that this would work well to hide pack members from rogues. I had to use this to my advantage.

I ran to the balcony and opened the doors that led out to a beautiful patio with a stone table and two chairs. There were flowers in various pots with various colors. I didn't have the time to appreciate the beauty of this small area though. I walked to the railing and realized I was three stories above a garden full of stones and a variety of roses with a gorgeous fountain. I would not survive that jump in my current condition.

I ran back into the room and then began to hear doors opening and closing in the hallway outside of mine. Someone was coming. It could be rogues, I couldn't afford to be captured. I would never be returned to my mate. They would kill me or rape me and I wasn't accepting either fate. I looked around the room quickly and saw two doors. I opened one and noticed it led into a large bathroom. I opened the second door and it led into a large walk in closet. There wasn't much here but... in the corner above the shelf their looked to be a small panel. I thought quickly and ripped the sheets from my bed and ran to the balcony. I would make them think I got away.
