Chapter 14: The first test

                                    

                                          


                          
The outfit probably would have had fashion designers cringe. Luckily, I could care less what I wore, as long as I was out of that damn hospital gown. 
                          
I stepped outside to see Merlin, his hand was seemingly attached to that clipboard he was always carrying around. 
                          


                          
"Ready to go then?" Merlin asked, not looking up at me. I nodded, but then realized he probably couldn't see me I mumbled out a soft yes. Merlin finally looked up for a brief moment, spun on his heel, and then headed down a long hallway to his right.  
                          
"So what'r we gonna do again?" I asked him, making sure to stay right on his heels which was currently very difficult considering I was injured and Merlin cut me no slack. 
                          
"A test, as I have explained to you previously." He said, keeping up his brisk pace. 
                          
"Yea I got that, I mean WHAT test? I think ya failed to mention that during your speech." 
                          
Merlin smirked, looking at me from the corner of his eye and said, "You'll see." 
                          
I huffed, wrinkling my nose. "What the bloody hell typa answer is that?!" 
                          


                          
Not ten minutes later I was handed a rain jacket and sent off to run after Merlin yet again. He led me to a medium sized room,  completely empty besides the door and a giant window opposing it. I immediately saw Eggsy on the other side, conversing with the only two female competitors. I attempted to wave to him but he couldn't seem to see me, and I was able to conclude that it was a one-way glass. We could see in but they couldn't see out. 
                          
Whenever I attempted to ask a question Merlin shushed me or shot me a glare, keeping it locked in my throat. I had no choice but to watch. We waited for a long time, while all of the competitors got ready and headed to bed, all the while Merlin furiously writing down notes as if his life depended on it. 
                          
More minutes passed and soon all of the competitors were in bed, all lights off. 
                          
"Vivian, this is where you come in." Merlin finally said to me, "I need you to tell me who wakes up first, and then tell me who is the first to swim over to the showers." 
                          
"Wait what? What the bloody hell do you mean by 'swim'?" But before I got an answer I saw the ground in the room opposite to us begin to fill with water. It rose and rose, fairly quickly I might add, until it began to seep into the competitor's beds. Eggsy was the first to turn on his light, and not seconds later all the lights were on as the students looked around in dazed confusion, having been woken up so rudely. But the sleepiness soon turned into a controlled panic as they all stood up on their beds, the water reaching their waists now. 
                          
They began to shout at one another, pointing and yelling orders at each other as the water approached their necks. Though I knew I was in no danger I felt a panic come over me, I took a step towards the glass. 
                          
"What the fuck is this?!" I shouted at Merlin, the students were now completely submerged, and I soon forgot to tell Merlin which student swam over to the showers first. "Merlin what are you doing?! They could drown for Christ's sake!" 
                          
I watched Eggsy pound at the door, struggling to pull it open as the others pulled out the tubes of the showers and stuck them in the toilets. I realized they were getting a source of oxygen when I saw them put their mouths up to it. 
                          
My panic grew as I saw Eggsy give up on the door. I hoped he had finally come to his senses and decided to join the others at the oxygen tubes. But instead he swam right past them. 
                          
"NO EGGSY! WHAT THE HELL D'YA THINK YOU'RE DOING?! GO TO THE FUCKING TUBES BRUV!"
                          
He swam to the sinks, looking directly at the mirror, and I swore he was looking straight at me. But he held onto the sink, fastening his feet and drew his fist back, prepared to punch. The look of determination in his eyes was frightening, and when his fist hit the mirror the room shook. 
                          
"Vivian, you may want to step back now." Said Merlin calmly as Eggsy prepared to punch again. Bewildered, I stepped back to stand beside him again, watching as the glass began to get spiderwebs throughout. One more punch and that thing was caving in. 
                          
"Oh fuck." 
                          
The glass broke, and the water came rushing around us, with such force that it nearly knocked me off my feet. bodies came tumbling past, flowing with the water to the back wall, where the water soon drained but the students remained, all soaking and shivering and looking around. 
                          
"Eggsy!" I ran up to the shivering boy, who looked terrified as I approached. 
                          
"Viv? Viv? What happened? Are you alright?" He asked, his eyes wide as he looked me over. 
                          
"I should be asking you that! Fucking hell I thought you were gonna drown!" I hugged him, wrapping my arms around him as he hugged me back, no hesitation as he gripped me tight. 
                          
"Well done," Said Merlin to the group of students, "Well done."

The next chapter! It's been a bit too long since I posted, honestly my life is becoming very hectic since the summer. Hopefully I'll be able to post weekly or if not at least every two weeks!
