She Keeps Me Warm-Mary Lambert

She says I smell like safety and home
I named both of her eyes "Forever" and "Please don't go"
I could be a morning sunrise all the time, all the time yeah
This could be good, this could be good

Slowly opening your eyes, you were greeted by the sight of an angel sleeping right beside you. Anastasia Arlovskaya, your lovely fiancée, was curled right beside your figure in the hotel suite bed. Smiling sleepily, you managed to slowly get out of bed without waking her. Opening the curtain; your eyes were greeted by the sight of Hawaii's oceans view from the beach hotel the two of you stayed in for a special occasion. Yep, the two of you were going to tie the knot!

Little delicate arms wrapped around your waist as Anastasia laid her head on your shoulder. "Good morning my love," she greeted in a sleepy voice.

"Good morning to you too sleepyhead," you responded before chuckling.
She chuckled along before looking outside of the widow with you. "I can't believe we're getting married here! It's just so beautiful," she breathed out, shaking the sleepiness from her voice.

"Only the best for my girl," you smoothly replied, before turning to hold her, and kissing her forehead.

For all the years you were together, you could still clearly remember meeting her, and every step the two of you took to getting here.

What's your middle name?
Do you hate your job?
Do you fall in love too easily?
What's your favorite word?
You like kissing girls?
Can I call you baby?
Yeah, yeah

"H-hello, my name is Anastasia. I just recently moved here from Belarus, so please pardon me if my English isn't the best," she shyly announced to the class. Your teacher assigned you to guide her throughout her Senior, and final year of high school, though you weren't complaining. How cliché it all felt made you cringe slightly, but you couldn't deny how fast your heart would beat whenever she was around.

"So, Ana, tell me about yourself," you said, addressing her with the nickname you chose earlier as you rested your head in your hand. It was lunch time, and considering the fact it was her first day, you offered her to sit with you.

"Well, I'm 17, a Virgo since I was born on the twenty-fifth of August, and I love cats. My middle name is Natasha, and I use to do odd jobs back in Belarus with my siblings. I have an older brother named Viktor, and my big sis Katya," she replied cheerfully. For an awfully shy girl, she seemed to warm up to you quickly.

"Lesbians," an obnoxious voice shouted from behind you.

"Fuck off Al," you yelled in return. "Don't worry about that douche; he's just looking for a threesome. Anyways, continue telling me about yourself.

She was slightly smaller and more fragile than the average high schooler, so you made it your job to look out for her at all times. And so your relationship with Anastasia grew as time flew bye.

She says that people stare 'cuz we look so good together
And I can't change, even if I tried
Even if I wanted to
And I can't change, even if I tried
Even if I wanted to
My love, my love, my love, my love
She keeps me warm, she keeps me warm

As time flew, your aching heart demanded her love in return. And so, you eased its worries by confessing your emotions to her, and she gladly returned them.

Soon enough, wrapping your arm around her shoulders and holding hands was common whenever others stared at the two of you. It was awkward at first with all of the attention, but she would just smile and carry on.

"They're just jealous, you know," she would say. "I mean, we are the cutest couple this school has seen after all!"

Crude comments were also common, and that was when you would step in and dry her eyes. Of course, after you would shut up the jerks that inhabited your school.

Kissing her tears, you would stroke her hair as you tried to relieve her worries. "I love you, you know, and I won't let anything come in between us. I promise."

And you kept that promise, and she did too.

I'm not crying on Sundays, I'm not crying on Sundays
Love is patient, love is kind
My love, my love, my love, my love
She keeps me warm, she keeps me warm

"I promised you all those years ago that I love you, and that I would let nothing come between us. I plan to keep that promise until the day I die," you recited your vows as you stared into Anastasia's eyes. Her white gown gave her even more of an angelic glow. Tears seemed to border your eyelids along with hers, but you wouldn't cry today. No, today was your day, and you would make the best of it.

Once the vowels and "I do's" were spoken, you both sealed your new titles of wives with a kiss.

"I love you, don't forget that."
"I won't, I promise."
