"Nick, what are you doing?" Nina asked. She wasn't expecting him to come over to her house. She didn't want to face him. She was actually enjoying herself. Tristan was making her feel better.
"You need to answer my question first," Nick said.
Nina frowned. "You don't get to come over here and make demands."
Nick sighed. "I came over here to talk things through."
"There's not anything you can say to me to make all this go away. You cheated on me and now you have a baby on the way."
"I don't even know if the baby is mine."
Nina widened her eyes. "I know you did not just say that. Now, you're calling my sister a hoe."
"Well, she slept with a married man," Nick said.
"Just go away, Nick. I can't believe I married you."
"I miss us, Nina."
"You can't be serious. You seemed pretty in love with my sister, a couple of days ago at my mother's house."
"That was a front to make you jealous."
"All you succeeded in doing, was making me disgusted with you, even more than I already was. Now leave."
"So, is this what you're doing? Screwing my best-friend?" Nick asked, glaring at Tristan and Nina.
"Watch your mouth," Tristan said. He stared Nick down.
"Are you willing to risk our friendship for her?" Nick asked.
"Nina and I...we're just friends. Nothing's going on," Tristan said.
It was true. They were just friends, so why did Nina's stomach drop when he said it. She really needed to get a handle on her feelings.
"She doesn't need you as a friend. I see what you're trying to do and it won't work," Nick said. "She'll always be my woman."
Nina shook her head. "You're insane. Go back to my pregnant sister."
Nina slammed the door in Nick's face before he could say something else that was off the wall.
Nina turned back around to face Tristan. Concern was etched on his face.
"Are you okay?" Tristan asked. He stepped closer to her so that they were only a few inches apart.
"Yeah, I'm fine. I'm sorry about that. I didn't know he was going to come over here and act a fool."
"Don't worry about it. Nick's all bark and no bite," Tristan said. He tucked a stray hair behind her ear.
At that moment Nina's stomach growled, causing Tristan to chuckle.
"Someone's hungry," he said, with a grin.
Nina laughed. "Aren't you?"
"A tad bit."
"I could cook something if you want."
"That'd be nice. I haven't had a home-cooked meal in a while."
Nina smiled. "Your date you had the other day didn't fix you anything?" She asked. She was being sly in trying to figure out about his date.
Tristan laughed. "If you must know, the date went good, but we went out to eat."
Nina glanced away from Tristan. "That's good."
Tristan tilted her chin so she could look up at him. "The date was good, but all I kept thinking about was you."
Nina shook her head. "You're really a charmer."
