The atmosphere changed drastically over the next few days, more cloudy and mysterious. Sophie spent a lot of time drawing and writing about what she could see; Silver had let her off the chores since she had jobs for the captain. The ship had been peaceful with the only upset being when Morph added a lot of salt to the soup, though Sophie was still rather upset about Mr Arrow's death.

"Miss Pennant, are you quite finished with staring into space?" Amelia called, seeing Sophie sitting in the shrouds, she hadn't moved all morning. The blonde turned her head abruptly, most likely out of fright and scrambled down clumsily. "Sorry ma'am. Is there something you need me to do?" Sophie apologised before asking in hopes of redeeming herself. "Yes actually. Can you carry out an inspection on the longboats? I'm afraid Mr Silver's report was illegible and unsatisfactory." Amelia replied after looking up at the sky in though for a few moments, Sophie nodded and scurried off. "Is she always eager to impress, Captain?" Doppler asked coming to Amelia's side watching as Sophie tripped on her feet before descending down the stairs."Yes, Doctor." She replied curtly, "She's been such a positive influence on Jim, I'm frankly amazed." He spoke, pleased that Jim had returned to his happier self – the way he remembered him as a boy.

Sophie could hear Jim yelling at Morph but carried on heading to the longboats, determined to make Amelia happy. As she slowly went over the longboats, stopping every now and again to make notes, she was unaware of what was happening above her head, though she was about to find out very soon.

"Ha! Busted!" Jim laughed, spotting Morph in the barrel, pretending to be a purp, jumping in and successfully grabbing the mischievous pink blob in his hands. Jim tickled Morph for a few moments before numerous footsteps and hushed voices made him stop, clasping Morph in his hands as he peeked out, seeing the entire crew. "Look, what we're saying is we're sick of all this waiting!" Mary hissed quietly, Jim was more curious – were those whisperings at the beginning something more sinister? "There's only four of them left!" The gruff voice of Mr Hands spoke, "We are wanting to move!" Another whisper-shouted, from what Jim could see – they were agitated and impatient about something. "We don't move till we got the treasure in hand." Silver spoke, shocking Jim but he stayed silent. "I say we kill 'em all now..." Scroop sneered, opening and closing his claw as he thought murderously. Silver seemed enraged by the idea, grabbing Scroop by the face to bring him down to his level, "I say what's to say!" Silver shouted, shaking the creature as he tried to squirm his way out of the cyborg's grasp. "Disobey my orders again like that stunt you pulled with Mr Arrow and so help me, you'll be joining him!" Silver finished, throwing Scroop into the barrel that Jim was hiding in, he caught Morph before he could make too much noise, fearful that he'd be discovered. "Ssstrong talk, but I know otherwissse." Scroop hissed, his claw reaching into the barrel of purps, Jim sucked in a breath of air to stay quiet shrinking back into the barrel to avoid being discovered, Scroop's claw grabbed air and Jim knew he'd turn his head and see him. "You got something to say, Scroop?" Silver challenged, Jim picked up a purp and handed it to Scroop, who thought nothing of the sudden appearance of fruit and lifted it out of the barrel. "It'sss those kidsss... Methinks you have a soft spot for them..." Scroop hissed, piercing the purp to emphasise his point, Silver glowered darkly as the other pirates murmured agreements, he had to protect both them and himself to survive the crew's mutiny.

"Now, mark me, the lot of ya." He replied strongly, "I care about one thing, and one thing only! Flint's trove! You think I'd risk it all for the sake of some nose-wiping little whelp? And a girl that can barely blink without fallin' over!" Silver shouted, it was a hard blow for Jim – he felt worse now than when his father left. He could barely keep his chest from heaving as he tried to hold back his sobs, utterly betrayed. "What was it now? 'Oh you got the makings of greatness in ya' and that brat of a girl... cosying up to 'have her back was it'?" Scroop smirked venomously, knowing he had Silver cornered. "Shut your yap!" Silver barked, eyes widening for a moment – Scroop had been spying all along. "I cozied up to those kids to them off our scent. If anyone had been leading them to it then it was you!" Silver argued, pointing a finger at the spider-like creature, "But I ain't gone soft." He added with an unmatched glare. "Planet ho!" Mr Onus announced, with gleeful cheers the crew quickly vacated the galley, leaving Jim broken-hearted, betrayed and confused as he clutched at the air, Morph flew off – being of simple mind meant he wasn't able to comprehend the heartbreak Silver had caused Jim.
