I stayed perfectly still, trying not to draw any attention to the fact that I was awake and listening into Jerome's conversation.
"I'm sorry boss. I meant no disrespect," one of the goons whimpered.
"That's right. Now when we get back to the house, put her onto my bed and handcuff her to the headboard. You got that? I don't want her slipping away again." Jerome put a hand onto my leg, tracing circles around my calf. I closed my eyes tight just encase he desired to flip me over or something. I didn't want to risk seeing he face again. I couldn't see him again. I knew that as soon as my eyes met with his it would be all over. I would fall for him again and that couldn't happen. He was a bad person and I needed to get that through my head.
I felt the vans stop and heard the back doors open.
"Right up stairs. Get it?" Jerome sounded deadly serious.
"Got it boss."
Soon there were arms around me. I kept myself limp and my eyes closed, acting as if I were still sleeping. The man started walking. I could hear gravel crunching under his feet. Where were we? Did Jerome say a warehouse or a regular house? Soon I was inside a building. I could hear more people walking around. Small conversations came to my ear.
"Yes Jenny. I know that..."
"But mom I want it!"
"Your rent was due a week ago Sir. I don't care if..."
Rent? Was I in an apartment building? Why was no one noticing a man carrying a girl around? I slightly opened my eyes and squinted around. There was a wall. I was in the back part of the building. The service area. That was why. I was hearing conversations from the main lobby through the wall. I was carried up the stairs and gently set on a bed so that I didn't "wake up." Once the door was closed I opened my eyes and started to look around. The room was very nice. I rolled over so that I could see out the window and the view was fantastic.
Suddenly, the door opened, I quickly went limp to continue the rouge that I was sleeping, but the people entering the room didn't seem to buy it. "I saw you move. Get up." I knew who it was as soon as the first words were spoken. I turned around to face the door and there stood Jerome with the biggest grin on his face. "Hey there gorgeous. I missed you. Did you miss me?" He took a few steps forward. I didn't speak. "Of course you did. If you didn't then why would you come and find me at the police station?" Jerome kept coming closer and closer, I didn't move. I couldn't do anything. My eyes were locked onto his and I became powerless. I didn't know what to do. He stopped about four feet away from me and kept he gaze on me. "Come here," he said in a monotone voice. I did as I was told. I walked up to him until I was only two feet away from him. I knew why I couldn't do anything on my own. It's because when I was with Jerome he had a sort of power over me that I couldn't explain. It was my love for him surfacing again and Jerome knew this. With a few words I would do anything he asked. What happened next only took two. "Kiss me," Jerome had made his command, I followed it and everything that happened next.
I woke up the next morning with a sore back and pelvic bone. Jerome didn't do soft at all on me last night. Slowly, I got up and covered myself. I went to the bathroom, drew a bath, and had a nice soak in the water. All of my aches and pains seemed to fade a bit in the warm water. I spent about a half hour in the water then got dressed and deiced to snoop around all I could. I thought that I might as well try the door first just to see if it were locked. To my surprise it wasn't. I peeked out and tip toed out of the room. I didn't want to wake or alarm anyone that I was out. I closed the door behind me then traveled down the hallway stopping every now and then to admire the view from a window or a piece of art work that hing from the walls. I heard a voice and foot step start to come toward me so I quickly opened a door that was to my right a slid inside the room and closed the door. I pressed my ear to the door to make sure the people had passed so that I could continue on my way. I traveled down the stairs at the end of the hallway. As soon as my foot got to the last step and onto the next floor all I could hear was arguing.
"Make me you little brat."
"You samurai skills are excellent, but are nothing compared to me."
Then a sound of a chainsaw blast throughout the place.
"Prepare to die."
I stuck my head into the next room to see what was going on. Jerome was fighting some fat guy with a sword. It seemed like he could hurt himself. I wanted to intervene, but was scared that Jerome would be mad that I left the room.
"That's enough!" A loud voice echoed in the room. A tall skinny man that I knew as Mr. Galavan, the city's soon to be mayor, entered the room. "We are a team boys, we don't fight among ourselves."
"Yeah we are a team and I'm the captain," The fat man said.
"Captain of my foot." Great come back Jerome.
"I've murdered dozens of women and terrorized the city. What have you done? Chopped up your mommy?"
"Everybody has to start somewhere. You see I have vision and brains, You're just a nutty old cannibal. How many people can you eat until that shit gets old."
The fat man looked over to me looked me straight in the eye and said to Jerome, " I could eat one more."
