AMBER'S POV

I got up pretty early the next morning which was nothing surprising considering my sleeping habits these past few days. Immediately the thoughts of the job Annie told me about flooded my mind. I took out the business card from my discarded jeans and pondered upon the choices I had, which were not many.

I stayed like that for sometime thinking about how my life had suddenly changed when the sound of Jenny shifting in her crib brought me back to reality.

"Good morning sunshine"

As she opened her hazel brown eyes, which resembled her mother's and mine, a warm feeling filled my heart. Looking at her tiny body gave me strength to continue through everything. It brought a joy to my whole being that a tiny being, so innocent and helpless was dependant on me and it further strengthened my resolve to not disappoint her.

Kissing her on her cheeks flushed from sleep, I took her to the kitchen and we followed our routine. Then after dressing her and myself, we came out to see my dad going through the newspaper.

"Nana" she squealed making dad look in our direction

He walked over to us taking her in his arms and literally squished her in a hug making her giggle loudly.

"So, what have you thought about the job" he asked. I had told him about it yesterday after my shift at the diner.

"I will ring up at the contact provided and pray that I am suitable for the job. We need every penny we can get" we had been pretty much broke after paying my mother's hospital bills and then Holly's. My job at the diner somehow paid the grocery, electricity and water bills but we were barely getting by. Jenny was growing fast and I needed to buy her more clothes and a better diet.

"We will be fine Amber. You know that right. I do not want you to stress, you just got out of the hospital" I just sighed and hugged him. "I already feel guilty that I have no job and I do not want to burden you". Dad used to work in a small textile company but lost his job when the firm suffered a setback and many of the workers were let go to cut the expenses.

"Oh dad, you are not a burden. I would not want us to be any other way" we hugged and I made my way to my room after making sure that Jenny did not need anything.

I took out the card and hesitantly dialed the number.

"Damien Reed speaking" came a deep voice after from the other end.

"Good morning Mr. Reed, I am Amber Greene. I got your number from Annie, from the diner. I was calling to confirm if the maid cum housekeeper job offer was still available"

"Yes, the position is still available and if you are interested then you can come here by 9 to discuss the requirements" he gave me an address that I hurriedly noted down and the line went dead.

Okay.

I looked at my watch. It was already eight. I immediately picked up my bag and my file holding my certificates and went out of the door after yelling a quick good bye to both dad and Jenny.
