THE PILLAR OF AUTUMN COLLEGE OF FILM AND CREATIVE WRITING

You woke up in your dorm. Your slumber too deep to remember immediately what had happened the day before. Your favorite bands' posters were dotted around the room. It smelt of the pungent scent of cheap perfumes and hairspray. Melody must have been here. You sat up in your bed and tried to focus your vision, it didn't work. You toppled over a stack of textbooks that you bought with your hard-earned money. Clumsy. You thought. Finally you acquired a decent vision, so you sauntered over to your laptop and logged in to YouTube. Watched a few science tutorials, and fiddled around with the common memes. The door flew open. Melody and Raven stormed in to the room.

"Heyo! I brought you some yogurt, a random scarf that I found on the bus, and one earring!" Melody beamed.

"G-Gee, thanks. I never knew I needed these until now." You gave a weak smile and set the items on your heavy wooden desk. Raven flipped the hair out of his face and examined the room.

"Nice, haven't changed." He paused. Hesitating, what could he be hiding? "We- Uhm, found you in your room last night." He looked straight in to your eyes. "We woke up only to find you were out cold, not even in your pajamas or anything. That's so not like you, anything going on?"

You winced and looked away. "Uhh, No. Just passed out, y'know? Studying... college..-" Suddenly, everything came back in to view. "Raven!" He jumped.

"Yes?"

"What time is it?"

"Eleven o'clock, five minutes until creative writing, why?"

You grabbed your stuff and ran out of the dormitories to Miss Evelyn's class. Only to find that in her place was a professor you did not recognize. They were there to explain the news. Dark and Jack were testing you, to see if you would do the right thing, but... what was the right thing? Handing them over and getting Raven and Melody killed? Maybe even yourself? Or keeping your mouth shut, and having justice lay at rest? Dark was right, this will kill you. You walked in to the class. The professor nodded to you and acknowledged your presence, good, nothing suspicious, yet. On your way to your desk you dropped your book. Shit. Your hands were shaking and the professor wrinkled his brow. "I- I'm fine, just-" You hit your head underneath someone else's desk. He started to approach you but you waved him off. Eventually, you got to your desk, plopped yourself down, and forced a weak smile.

Outside, though, through the towering glass panes of the room you saw a figure, the one you instantly recognized. It was Dark. Standing under a tree, holding his finger to his mouth.

 SHH.

This made you uneasy, he smirked and disappeared in to the shadow of a nearby tree. Just like the demon he was, you saw a red and black aura radiating around him as before, casting a faint haze just before he melted in to the shadows. A graceful sight, but it made you sick. You returned you focus to the front board, more people were filing in, now. The more people, the greater the chance that rumors will spread, so you better not make a scene. The professor started his lecture at twelve o'clock sharp, punctual, but inefficient. He was stuttering and blabbing around the details and not getting to the point. The students eventually got so fed up that one raised his hand.

"Yes?" The professor turned from his messy work.

"Where's Miss Evelyn?" The class nodded their heads, some of them wanted to ask but didn't want to sound rude. Glad this kid had the guts. Raven and Melody listened intently. You closed your eyes and prayed that this will be short.

"Uhm." The professor cleared his throat. "Miss Evelyn is no longer with us." The class started a panic. Everyone gasped and few jumped out of their seats. Melody had tears welling in her eyes, and Raven merely looked surprised. You smiled a bit, you were glad it was a short statement, and nothing to big to rationalize over and explain to everyone. Someone caught your smile.

"Monster! Look! She's smiling!" The class fell in to a deadly silence. You widened your eyes and fell back in your seat.

"N-No! I wasn't- AH!" You got up and cleared the room. Everyone whispering and muttering as you departed the hellhole. If they had any common humanity, they would suspect it's you. This could result in legal trouble, not to mention the two monsters you have pointing a gun to your head. Raven and Melody followed you out.

"Hey! What was the big deal?" Raven yelled. You kept walking.

"(Y/N) are you okay? Seriously! What's going on?" Melody asked impatiently. You began to sprint. They still reluctantly followed.

"Are you going to answer us?"

"What's your big deal?"

"Do you have anything to do with it?"

"Was she murdered?"

You stopped.

"No! No! None of that. I just.. I just.. hate being called out. You two are not helping anything!" You stated. They stood there, their mouths open wide, like fish expecting all the answers to come on a hook. "Just... leave me alone." You went to your dorm and locked the door.
