I know that this is very short and I'm sorry but after this chapter, they will get longer and hopefully better.

Sarah;

The day of the dry run was soon upon us and while Daryl was going out there to protect the community, I was going to be staying here. I would like to have gone out and did my part but I had already told Deanna and Maggie that I was staying to open the school. Not that anyone would turn up.

"Are you sure the bike is full?" I asked, gnawing on my bottom lip while he got read.

"Sarah, ye' saw me fill it last nigh'." he mumbled, coming over to placce his hands on my hips, "Besides, it's just a test run."

I believed him, really I did but I just couldn't shake off the feeling that something bad was going to happen.

I sighed quietly and rest my forehead against his chest, "I know."

"Wha's wrong?" he whispered, "'nd don't say nothin' 'cause I know ye' better than that."

"I just have a really bad feeling in my stomach. Like something is gonna happen that's beyond our control."

"Don't worry," he instructed, "We'll be back before you know it."

I gave him nod before puckering my lips, smiling when he granted my wish for a kiss, "Bye. I love you."

Slinging his crossbow over his shoulder, he made his way to the door, turning to me before he closed it behind him, "Ain't goodbye, Freckles. More of a see ye' later. 'nd I love ye' too."

I heard the bike start up and I moved to the window to watch him ride off towards the gates.

Zeus came clicking down the hallway from the bedroom, having just woke up from his morning nap he always seemed to take.

"You wanna go for a walk?" I asked, watching as he stretched before trotting over to the door.

I'll take that as a yes.

Daryl;

"Now I know that this sounds insane," Rick began, jumping up onto the bed of one of the large trucks, "But this is an insane world. We have to come for them or they'll come for us, it's that simple."

I looked around at the quarry that was full of walkers, letting out a breath that I didn't know I was holding. This was the biggest haul of the creatures we'd ever taken on.

"This is where it all begins tomorrow. Tobin get's in the truck, opens the exit and we're off. He hops out, catches up with his team of red staying on the West side of the road. Daryl gets on his bik-"

A loud crack comes from across the quarry and I move to see what's happening and saw that on the other side, a section of the rock had gave way, taking one of the trucks that was barricading the walkers with it.

"Please tell me someone else saw that." someone said from behind me.

"Abraham!" Rick yelled, leaping down off the truck.

"Screw it, we'll do it live!"

I groaned to myself before raising my crossbow as Tobin climbed into one of the trucks and slowly inched forward.

"They're coming!" I informed as a steady stream of walkers began leaving the quarry, wincing as the lead walker's skin was pulled from it's body.

"Rick," Carter yelled over the commotion, "Rick, we're not ready!"

"Yeah? You think so? Then go back but we are doing this!"

For a second, he looked as if he was going to do just that but no, he nodded and left to go where he was supposed to be.

"Daryl!" I turned to look at Sasha and Abraham as they climbed into the car, "We'll meet you."

I nodded and ran to my bike, attaching the crossbow to the front.

"Go!" Rick yelled, "Go now!"

I drove forward a little bit while Rick, Michonne and Morgan ran ahead and looking behind me, I saw that there was already a fair crowd of walkers heading towards me.

**

I kept up my act of driving a good few feet ahead of the walkers, then stopping to let them catch up for the rest of the way.

Eventually, I could see the car that Abraham and Sasha were in up ahead and I gave them a nod as they pulled out in front of me and after another couple of miles, we saw the wall we had put up and I was relieved when Rick and the others sent flares up which kept them interested and helped move them around the corner.

Now all we had to do was keep this up for another twenty miles.
