Chapter 21

They weren't there. My hand left the doorway in disappointment. Maybe I shouldn't have gotten so excited on the way to school. All that hope for nothing.

"You're blocking the way."

"Logan!" I exclaimed in surprise and spun around, not caring what anyone else thought. "Is Teya and Alec here?"

"No why would you think that?" Logan asked, sounding genuinely surprised. Did he know if anything was going on? I opened my mouth to unleash the questions that had bubbled inside of me since yesterday. I thought I'd be able to ask Ainslie but she hadn't turned up to school today. In fact, many of her friends weren't here either. I didn't know if anyone was going to come, school had been oddly quiet except for the hushed voices from the non-werewolves.

"Class is starting." Logan said and pushed past me. He never did apologise after throwing me into the wall. Sighing, I shuffled back to my desk. Why wouldn't anyone tell me anything? I just had a really bad omen about what was about to go down over the next few days.

"That's all for class today. Don't forget we'll be having a test next week and finish off the questions." The teacher rambled on about the questions she had written up on the bored. I was glad I had already finished them during class; that gave me more time to ponder over the thought of werewolves.

If Teya was in my place, what would she do? Would she run off and look for her friend for advice? She probably would but then she had the courage to storm down a household in demand to see her friend. There was no way I'd be able to do that.

"Logan!" I called out suddenly once I had spotted him exiting the room. Over the racket generated from the other classmates, Logan would never have heard me. Not when I had sounded so timid. I cursed myself for not shouting louder and quickly picked up my belongings and made the split decision of chasing after Logan. I bustled past students, repeating the endless sentence of 'excuse me'.

"Logan!" I called out again when he had reached his locker. His blank blue eyes just glanced past me. He looked bored but I had to nail the questions out of him even if I did bore him. I couldn't think about pleasing Logan, I needed to think about what I wanted. Even if he did want me to silence myself.

"What?"

"Please tell me what Alec and Teya are doing." I said, panting from the short sprint.

"You really want to know?" Logan asked bemused.

"They're not doing... it... are they?" My eyes widened. Alec had tried describing what having mates meant and how to complete the ritual but I wasn't exactly certain if Logan was sarcastic or not.

"I'm sorry, but I don't know what 'it' you're talking about. Could you explain it in more detail?" Logan smirked while he stuffed his books back into his locker. This time, even I detected the sarcasm underneath his words. Or had he purposely emphasized it to make sure I grasped it this time?

This was no time to be internally debating with myself. What would happen if he became bored and left? Then I'd have to hunt him down again.

"You know what I mean but I'm being serious. What are they doing?" I pleaded with Logan. I didn't want to be kept in the dark for any longer. I was sick of it. I had random people bursting into my room during the past week. Didn't I deserve the right to know what was going on?

"I'll tell you only if you'll stop hassling me or Alec about any of this." Logan declared. "And I mean about anything that concerns werewolves."

I nodded instantly. If I really had to, I'd pester Teya. Alec had already shunned me from his life and I shouldn't bother him anymore. If that was his decision than I had to abide by it. I didn't really mind not speaking to Logan either. He was the one who had harmed me.
