It was all (Name) could do not to burst out crying with happiness. In her elation, she managed to nod and use what little strength her body had allotted for her to push herself off the bed and bring herself to Aomine's level to embrace him.
"Yes yes yes. A million times yes!"
Aomine buried his face in her hair, "Oh god I missed you..."
(Name) hugged him even tighter, "I missed you more... it's so boring here."
He pulled away and wiggled his eyebrows at her and murmured , "I can fix that.", drawing forth a groan from (Name).
"I can't even stand up. And we're guests."
"Wait, what?"
"Help me up, please."
Aomine hurriedly placed her back on the bed, an expression of concern taking over his face, "Are you alright, what happened?"
"They just took a lot of blood.", she shook her head, "Don't worry about it."
"Too bad.", he grunted and sat next to her, "I'm your fiance now. I'm gonna worried."
At the word "fiance", mirrored grins dominated their expressions.
"Well I-"
"Aomine. (Name). Congratulations.", the one and only, Akashi Seijuro had stepped in to interrupt their moment.
(Name) would have rather non admitted it to herself or anyone else, but she knew that the smile on her face dropped. Yeah, she felt horrible for Akashi, but she wasn't his number one fan or anything. He wasn't helping his sway with her right now.
"Thanks."
Akashi smiled knowingly,"I'm sorry that I've interrupted, (Name) and Aomine, but my daughter has some news to share with you."
(Name) held no hesitation in her reaction, "Aomine, could you help me to-"
Without even giving her time to finish her sentence, Aomine had sweeped her into his arms and stood up to follow Akashi.
"I was going to say 'wheelchair', but alright.", (Name) hid her face in her hands and then removed them to lace her arms around his neck for support.
Aomine merely grunted in response, not saying another word until they arrived in the aforementioned girl's bedroom.
The bedroom must have been made over when Akashi's daughter was diagnosed, no expense was spared, but at the same time the room had a calming simplicity ideal for a patient. There was a quiet aura to the room, pierced periodically by a heart monitor next to the large bed. It was all a strange blend of calming colors and cutting edge technology.
Akashi's daughter was dwarfed by the comforter and mattress, but she looked content as (Name) approached.
"Hello again, (Name)", she whispered in a matriarchal voice that surprised (Name), "Thank you for saving me."
"You mean... You're cured?" (Name)'s voice hinged on a hope, the doctors had presented her with the same statement falsely before.
"Perfectly. Thank you."
A few tears slipped out onto (Name)'s cheeks before she could even say anything, and when she finally managed to collect herself she was only able to say, "I'm so glad."
It had been a long and painful journey getting this girl well, so of course (Name) had placed emotional stock in the issue.
Akashi stepped farther into the room and behind (Name) and Aomine, "She'll be well enough to be the flower girl at someone's wedding soon."
~~~ A month later ~~~
"Cream or salmon invitations?"
"Why are all colors synonymous with food for you?"
(Name) laughed and set the scraps of paper down, "It gives a better visual!"
Aomine ruffled her hair, "I'm just going to leave the artistic deliberations to you."
In response, she puffed her cheeks and complained, "But the wedding has to have a color scheme, and I'm not sure if I'm tipping the balance in favor of cream or salmon!"
"You're adorable."
"Aomine!"
There is still space for wedding guests! Refer to the previous author's note if you're interested!
