You were an expert in fooling people with your innocent facáde. You've never lost any single card game you've played, of course with a trick up your sleeve.
Himuro, on the other hand, was a natural genius of trickery. His facial expression never reflected his real feelings, just like his motto, "Cool head, hot heart". Not even his 'brother', Kagami Taiga, knows what's going on in his mind. Those were the traits the two of you had since you were young, and thought that no one was like you the both of you, hiding your true selves beneath the mask you wear. Well, that was what the two of you thought, until fate entertwined the two of you, and you met Himuro in Yosen High School.
He was a lady's man, but never once have you fallen into his trap. A lot of girls fell head over heels for him. It was like playing a card game. You didn't want your trump card to be discovered.
Though, you were the same, you kept fooling people with your delicate, cold facáde, and instead of getting rid of your annoying fans, they increased in number. All you could do was put on a strained smile. You never interacted with Himuro until you were in your second year. It all started when your classmates were playing poker during break times, challenging the members of your class. From there on, they made a little competition between classes, which led you to meeting Himuro. You won all of your games, be it against girls or boys, you always won, though it needed some trick to fool the opponent that they were the ones winning instead of you. And your ultimate weapon was your facial expression. Through years of observation, you could read one's expression, which mostly helps you in winning those rounds of poker.
" It's my win. " You showed your cards which consisted of the ace, king, queen, joker and 10 of hearts. A royal flush.
" R-Royal flush... I lost... damn! " He banged the table.
" Sorry, but you'll have better luck next time. " You apologetically smiled.
" (l/n) (f/n) advances to the next round! " One of your classmates cheered, clapping for you.
" Nice going, (l/n)! At this rate, our class will be able to win this competition! " A male classmate of yours grinned.
" I hope so too. " You chuckled, even though you were internally groaning.
' Yeah right. I'm sick of your childish games. I just wanted to quickly get out and have my lunch in peace. ' You thought, rolling your eyes when nobody noticed.
" No, our class's Himuro will win this! " another class's student retorted in an annoyed tone.
" No, our (l/n) will emerge as champion! " A student from your class growled.
' Immature brats.. ' you thought, shaking your head.
" Well, how about we settle it with a match? " Himuro suddenly appeared in front of you, already shuffling the deck of cards used for playing.
" Why not? I'd love to try playing at least once against you, Himuro-kun. " You sat on the chair adjacent to Himuro's, waiting for him to give you your share of cards.
" ...... " You observed your cards, putting on your cold mask.
' Che. Got unlucky this time. ' You thought, but you kept your expression neutral, in order not to show your cards to Himuro.
He only smiled, looking at your expression, and reverted his gaze back at the cards he held on his hand.
The game started, with you gaining the upper hand. Though, after a while, you were feeling that you were going to loose to the man in front of you.
' Damn. He just took out a few of his trump cards. Better be careful. ' You thought, trying to cool your head down.
" What's wrong, (L/n)-san? It's your turn now. " The corner of his lips slightly tugged up, as you internally screamed in annoyance.
" No. It's nothing. " You took out an ace of diamonds and and ace of hearts.
The tension obviously filled the air, which made it easier for you to think 10 moves ahead. You had to admit, Himuro was one of a kind. You have never encountered anyone with an ability like his. He was truly a genius.
He innocently smiled as he placed his card of the table, showing a set of five cards, three cards showing five of diamonds, clovers, and hearts, and two seven of spades and diamonds accompanied the blow.
" Full house... It's your win. Congratulations. " You stood up from the table and left the classroom.
" Well, that was an easy win. " A classmate of Himuro's whistled.
" Not particularly. I would've lost if she's shown me her trump card. " Himuro chuckled, going out of the classroom to find you.
' Oh, (F/n). Your poker face is the only one I've never seen through... But now, I'll make sure that you can see through mine too. '
