Jason's pov
My son finding out who I was quite possibly was the best thing to ever happen to me. Tears of joy fill my eyes as Andrew wakes up in my truck with Miranda beside me on our drive to Georgia. It's so great to have them in my life as my family instead of friends. I hold her hand. "I'm so glad you're finally mine again baby. I promise it won't be like last time." "I know Jason. I love you." "I love you too." "We are so telling your mom now too." I smile. "Ma has been tellin' me she wants grandkids." We hit Macon's city limit. I wish dad was still here. We'd sure share a good laugh about this. Along with an ice cold beer. "Yo ma, it's a Christmas miracle!" I shout. Miranda glares at me with a smile. "What are you yellin' for?" Mom gripes, opening the door. "Merry Christmas mom." I say, hugging her. Andrew walks over. "Now this might come as a shock to you but this is Andrew your grandson." I tell her. "It's about time you told him." Mom says, completely surprising me. "Wait, you knew?" I gape. "Yeah, it's obvious he's your son Jason. I've been waiting for the day you finally got what you deserved." I'm a little confused. "Wait, wait slow down. What do you mean?" She smiles. "The son and wife you so rightfully deserve." It's making Miranda uncomfortable. I can tell. "Ma, please stop." I mutter, covering my eyes. She laughs. "Sorry hun." She says. We go inside. Andrew plays with mom's bulldog Athens while the adults talk in the kitchen. "It's five years late but," Mom starts, then pulls out a present. "What's she doing?" Miranda whispers. "I have no idea." I whisper back. She walks out to Andrew and he opens the present. A sweater that says 'World's greatest grandson.' I smile and hold my girl's hand. "There's something that's five years overdo between us too." She says. I look at her confused. "What ya talkin' about honey?" I ask. She wraps her arms around my neck and we share a long kiss. I close my eyes, my hands on her hips as I pull her closely to my chest. The oven beeps pulling me out of that deep make out session. My breathing heavy and my lust for her just as strong. Mom comes in the kitchen to get whatever it was out of the oven. I grip her hips tighter and crash my lips into hers again. "Hey ma, can you uh keep an eye on Andrew for me?" I ask. She smiles and nods. I grab her hand and we get back to my truck. "I'm glad you changed your mind, hun." "I never changed my mind. It's just the matter of coming to my senses." "Either way, honey, I'm glad." "Me too." We find a hotel and as soon as the door closes, we're making out again I pick her up, her legs wrap around my waist and I lose my balance falling back onto the bed. I lay her on the bed. "This time baby I'm gonna love you right."
Miranda's pov
I wrap my arms around his neck, he pulls my shirt over my head. My grip gets tighter as does his. Rejecting him five years ago was the biggest mistake I've ever made.
*after*
He lays back down beside me. "My God, baby, you sure know how to ride a cowboy." He says. I smile. "You could say..... I have had.... A lot of practice." I say, trying to catch my breath. He kisses my head. My hand rests on his chest. I sit back up and kiss him. His arm wraps around my waist. "Don't ever stop lovin' me again baby." He whispers. "Never. I couldn't if I tried."
*later*
We get back to Jay's mom's house. Andrew is asleep on the couch, a toy train in his hand. His mom sits beside him, drinking hot cocoa. "Had a good time?" She asks, making my cheeks get red. Jason chuckles and nods, holding my hand tighter. I just realized I still had my wedding ring on. I quickly slip it off my finger, thinking about Brantley. Oh poor B. But I can't help it. I love Jason with all my heart. I have since I met him. No amount of time would ever kill that.
Brantley's pov
I finish off a twelve pack and punch the wall in fury. He took my wife and boy. I hate him so much. I look at myself. There's a man in the mirror but it ain't me. I smash the mirror with my fists, cutting my hands on the glass. I scream in fury and smash the chair against the wall. My eyes go wide in realization. Revenge. That's what I'll do. I'll leave that no good cowboy with nothing. He took my everything so I'll leave him with nothing.
