"You forgot your phone. You were already down the road by the time mum found it." He said handing it to me.
"That's the reason you came all the way here. To hand me my phone?" I asked him skeptically.
"Well yes. And no. I wanted to talk to you about last night." He said seriously.
I sighed. Here we go again. Like every single time! "Cole, look I don't have much time. Literally two minutes until I have to be in class, we can talk later." I said turning away but he grabbed my hand and turned me back around.
"No I have to talk now."
"I don't have time COLE!"
"Skip class. We can go do something...and talk."
"I can't skip! It's the second day back!" I whispered.
"Awww come on...I mean you're only missing a couple of lessons. You'll be back before lunch."
"I have cheerleading practice fourth."
"Okay, you'll be back before fourth then. Look, you don't feel like facing Madison right now and I'm sure my brother can do without his fake girlfriend for the morning...so what's the problem?"
"Wait you know?"
Cole checked his watch.
"You're already late...skip...say you went to the doctors about your foot or something." He said coaxingly.
"Fine...but I want you to buy me a Triple Chocolate ice cream." I said, secretly excited about spending the morning with him.
"Deal," he said and started to walk down the hall and out the back door so no one saw us.
I followed him quickly not wanting to get caught.
"You know this may look kind of iffy. The school's heartthrob football captain's girlfriend sneaking out with his hot brother." I said blowing a loose strand of hair out of my face.
Cole didn't say anything, he just grinned.
"What's so funny?"
"You said I was hot." He replied smirking as we got to his silver Golf. I blushed, oh shiddums, I did didn't I?
"Wel-l its not as if you didn't already know it." I stuttered searching my brain for an ample explanation.
"Yeah I did, I just didn't know you thought it too. So much for your immunity." He sniggered.
I scowled. Yeah he was hot, but he could also be a right pain in the ass.
I got in the car without a reply and he started the engine, the air con blasted throughout the car.
After a minute or so the conversation resumed onto a different topic.
"So how did you know about our fake relationship?" I asked him fiddling with the smurf he had hanging from his mirror.
"Oh. Jeremy told me yesterday at work." He said nonchantly. Oh damn I wanted a bit more of a reaction from him.
"So why didn't you tell your mum this morning that it was me?"
"Because I figured that if I told her that you were Jeremy's girlfriend, then she wouldn't let you stay round anymore. And I'm not going to have you staying with that son of a bitch all the time!" he said. His hands gripped tighter around the steering wheel as he talked about my father. Wow protective much?
But it was sweet that he thought of that.
"Wow...um thank you. That's very sweet of you Cole." I said feeling all warm and fuzzy inside.
