"Thank you very much," I reply as I decide to ignore the extra comment she added in. I bow a little and step into the house. "Please excuse the intrusion," I say. I take my shoes off and follow her up the staircase to Kise's room. She leaves me by the door and heads back downstairs with a wink. I sigh quietly. It's clear that she's got the wrong impression, but there's nothing I can do about it now.
I knock on the door, but there's no response. I decide to open his door. "Excuse the intrusion," I say again.
I go into his room and close the door behind me. I look around only to find Kise sitting on the floor in front of a table with his workbooks spread out around him and his face on one of his notebooks, pencil still in hand. He's sleeping pretty soundly. I walk over and pick up one of the workbooks from the finished pile. This math... sucks. That's not anywhere near the right answer. I put the math workbook down and pick up the English workbook. This one on the other hand is near flawless. I guess he's good at one subject at the very least. I sit down across from him and look through the other workbooks he's managed to complete. Everything else he's completed sucks. I chuckle. Well, it's not like I expected him to like studying anyhow. He's worked pretty hard though. I smile a little as a warm feeling washes over me. I hate to admit it, but I'm kind of proud of him and somewhat touched at the same time.
As he stirs in his sleep, I look up from the workbook in my hand. His eyes open slowly and he mutters, "Huh? Kimikocchi...? What are you doing here?" His eyes widen and he bolts up suddenly. "K-Kimikocchi?!" he exclaims.
"Afternoon," I greet. I stifle my laughter. He's got words written on his cheek.
"H-How long were you here?!" he exclaims.
"Not long," I reply. "You have words printed on your cheek by way."
Kise starts to panic and he looks in the mirror. "Why?" he whines to no one in particular. "That's so uncool..."
As he wipes the words off his face, I motion to the workbooks and comment, "Most of these are wrong by the way."
"That part doesn't matter," Kise replies. "You only said that I had to finish."
I shrug. "True enough."
"Anyways, are you are doing here?" he asks. His eyes sparkle. "Did you come here because you were anxious to go to the beach?" he asks.
"No," I reply flatly. "I came because Katsamatsu-senpai said that you didn't pick up any of his calls. He wanted me to remind you that practice would be starting in a few days," I explain. "By the way, he didn't sound very irritated when we spoke, but I can assure you that he's pissed at you."
Kise sighs and pouts at me. "You're no fun, Kimikocchi."
"What of it?" I reply. "It's not who I am." I sigh. "In anycase, since I'm here, I suppose that I'll help you finish up your homework."
His eyes light up. "Really?" he asks happily.
"Just this once, understood?" I reply. He nods eagerly. "I'm pretty strict though. I'll have you keep redoing it until you've gotten everything correct."
He frowns and replies reluctantly, "Okay."

When he finally finishes his remaining homework correctly, it's dark out. "I'm dooonne!" he cheers. He stretches his arms out. He's got such a cheery expression on right now it's almost hard to believe that he was struggling for the last few hours.
I nod. "Well done," I priase. I sigh. "I suppose it would be cruel of me to reject your invitation to go to the beach after seeing how hard you worked to finish your homework, so I'll go."
"Yes!" he cheers. He runs over to me and hugs me from behind. "You're being so nice today, Kimikocchi!"
I scold, "You'd best stop, or I'll get mad."
I swear he smirks as he says, "It's not like you can do anything about it though." He squeezes me tighter and nuzzles the crook of my neck, probably to provoke me.
I elbow him in the stomach and he groans as he lets go of me. "Say that again?" I say as I send him a sharp glare.
He laughs weakly. "Sorry, sorry."
"Alright," I reply with a sigh.
"Kimikocchi, let's go to the beach and then to the summer festival after that tomorrow," Kise says. I have to say, that's a bit of a hassle. He continues, "I'm sure you're thinking that it'll be a pain right now, but I really want to spend the whole day with you." He's being really greedy. Kind of like a little kid. I nearly sigh.
"The beach is far though," I reply. I'm about to shoot him down, but he gives me a pleading look. After a bit of hesitation, I continue, "So instead, I'll let you choose somewhere nearby to go tomorrow and then go with you to the summer festival later." I look away. "We still have a few more days off, so I'll go with you to the beach the day after tomorrow."
He jumps up and hugs me again. "Kimikocchi!" he exclaims with a huge grin.
"Oi, Kise!"
He smiles at me. "Sorry, I got excited." He stands up suddenly. "I'll walk you home." I smile a little and nod. Somehow, this has become normal. I think, just maybe, that I kind of enjoy being with him.
