40th❀

Cue dramatic music because I was getting ready for what they were going to say.

I waited for a minute, two then three. Why weren't they saying anything? I was getting anxious. I got more anxious when the ticking sound of the grandfather clock was heard.

"You... our daughter?" Mrs. Cha asked, just as shocked as Mr. Cha.

I dug my finger into my thumb and nodded, as I felt my breath tightened.

"Yeobo, she's the baby we... got rid of from the past," Mrs. Cha muttered quietly to Mr. Cha, but I seemingly caught it.

I pretended I didn't, though.

"How could she be here now?" Mr. Cha asked her back in a soft whisper. "But looking at her right now, she has the same eyes as you, yeobo."

I do? I never really notice them. Too bad, I didn't have a mirror with me right now so I couldn't check.

"And she has the same nose as you, yeobo," Mrs. Cha whispered back, giving me a side-way glance.

"I think she is our daughter," Mr. Cha concluded, clearing his throat. "What should we do?"

"I'm not so sure. I'm so flustered," Mrs. Cha admitted, clearing her throat as well.

Since it was getting a little awkward, I cleared my throat and said, "I should probably get going now. It's quite late, after all."

"Oh, wait–"

Mr. Cha held her back, giving her a small head shake. He whispered, "Let her go for now. We need to think about this."

Mrs. Cha sighed a little but she said, "I'll see you out the door, dear."

"No, it's okay," I assured her, smiling. "It would be too burdensome. Then, good night."

I bowed, and so they did, returning it.

I swiftly headed out their living room then out of their mansion. It felt so weird knowing I might be the blood heir to their whole empire. I felt like I was in another dream now. At first, it was a dream with me and SEVENTEEN. Now, my rich, blood parents? It's just... unimaginable.

I headed out into the street after nodding at the security guard, greeting him good night. I was walked into the street, folding my arms together. It was a little cold at night but it wasn't that cold.

"You're walking alone?" a voice suddenly asked out of nowhere, making me jump.

I put a hand on my heart, recovering from the sudden heart attack. I looked from left and right, wondering who was there. Then, I asked with a raised eyebrow, "Taecyeon? What are you doing around here?"

"I was... thinking," he replied, shrugging as he threw his hands into the pockets of his jeans. "What about you? Did you just come out of Miyeon's house? Did you really talk to them?"

"Ah, well..." I didn't know if I should lie or admit the truth. I've been having these type of problems ever since I moved into SEVENTEEN's dorm, which I miss. "Just... passing by."

Taecyeon smiled a small smile, nodding. "Ah, well, should I walk you home?"

"No, it's okay. You should probably head back to your place. Where do you live, anyway? I never got to ask," I said as we began walking again. Great, we were walking. Will he end up walking me home?

"I live in an apartment just somewhere near here," he replied. "And you shouldn't be walking home alone. I know your friend did and look what I did to her."
