Hey! so this took me longer then i would have liked to get out, but oh well. I hope you guys like it :)
I wake up only about an hour later to hear yelling from downstairs. Immediately I sit up and take a moment to get my bearings. The room is dark and the closed door is muffling the voices from below. Cautiously, I stand up and step towards the door before opening it a crack.
"Since when do you care what I do!" I hear Jake shout. My eyebrows draw together and out of curiosity I step out of the room.
"We are still your parents, and if we tell you something you better listen." A higher voice replies. I'm guessing it must be Jake's mom.
"You Don't Own Me," Jake says slowly. I hear his footsteps and I scramble back a few steps trying to get into the room again, but it's too late. Jake already saw me. He stops walking and sighs running a hand through his hair. I don't know if I should say something so instead I remain silent.
"Sorry about that," He mumbles and starts walking towards his room. I trail after him feeling like a lost puppy.
"It's okay," I say quietly as we enter his room. "But is everything okay with you?"
"My parents and I fight a lot," He admits and tries to dismiss it, but I know it bugs him. He doesn't look at me or say anything else.
"I should go," I say softly. Jake looks up at me and nods.
"I'll take you home," He replies. "I should have just taken you there earlier," I chew on my lip as Jake gathers some stuff and grabs his keys. I walk downstairs after him, and he puts a hand on my lower back so he can whisper in my ear.
"Just ignore them," He says stiffly. I'm about to ask what he means until I see both his parents are watching us with heated glares. Jake must get his looks from his mom, because they look fairly similar. I instantly blush realizing what they are probably thinking of at seeing some girl in their house. They don't seem surprised at all, and instead just have their furious eyes set on Jake. I involuntarily move closer to him, trying to avoid the hostile air.
I climb into Jake's truck and he starts it before driving me home. He makes sure to turn the radio up to avoid any conversation and awkward silences.
When we get to my house I purse my lips remembering I have to climb up the tree to get into my room.
"See ya," I say and quickly run through the cold and start climbing up the tree. The truck wait's a moment before pulling off my street. I sigh in quick relief and finish climbing until I reach my room.
I crawl into my bed and instantly fall asleep considering I've only gotten like an hour tonight.
"Come on," Ethan hisses through the darkness and I race towards him with Lacey on my heels. I let out a stifled laugh. As I each hand them some more toilet paper I had stuffed up my sweatshirt. Lacey gives me a smirk, her red hair gleaming out in the moonlight.
I look behind me after hearing some rustling and see Jared come out of the tress.
"All clear," He gives us a thumbs up. Jared is one of Ethan's good friends but I have only talked to him a few times.
Lacey is first to throw a roll of toilet paper up onto a tree.
"we are so immature," she shakes her head with a smile on her face. I go next and then the four of us all start throwing rolls at once while laughing. We decided to hit our friend Steve's house as a joke. We know he will be mad, but will eventually laugh it off and get even in some way. That's what we do, we play pranks on each other. I laugh and Ethan pulls me in for a quick kiss which I return with a smile.
