“What is it, sensei?” Hana asked him, politely. He turned towards her and grinned happily. I think he was starting to creep out Hana slightly.

“I have applications for the Chuunin Selection Exams! Fill them out and return them to room 301 by 4 o'clock in the pm tomorrow!” Hayato-sensei told us seriously and handed each of us an application in turn. “I don't know how good of a ninja Kyuri is, but I have high hopes in her and I'm pretty sure you will include her in your team to make your teamwork better! Plus, if you didn't have a third person, I wouldn't have been able to give you guys these...”

“Thanks... I think?” Hana looked at her application with a focused look on her face.

“I'm glad Kyuri is here now! To think that our small team would stop me from reaching my goal!” Otaru exclaimed. I cringed at his loudness.

Hayato-sensei took out a kunai and held it up in the air. “Come on Team, you have to practice for this! I want you to succeed! Let's watch the two female members of the team face off.”

I nodded and walked a distance away from sensei and Otaru, I didn't want them to get injured during the spar.

“But sensei! You can't expect me to battle my friend!” Hana protested.

“Ah, ah, ah. No excuses. I'll stop you if it starts to get too rough.”

“Ugh, fine,” Hana grumbled and walked to where I was.

“And... begin!” I heard sensei say. I saw Hana take out a couple of shuriken and threw them at me with great force. I barely had enough time to get out of the way. Even though she said she didn't want to be a ninja, she had quite a good throwing arm.

I made three doppelgangers of myself to go running towards her while I went to hide in a nearby tree. I didn't know too many techniques, but I was good at strategy. I watched her quickly defeat two of the doppelgangers with thrown kunai, and now she was struggling to battle the third, which she probably thought was me. She had a good arm, but she was weak in taijutsu.

Once my third doppelganger disappeared in a puff of smoke, she stomped on the ground out of fury. If it were me I would probably be just as angry, but I wouldn't have shown it like she had.

I quickly made my way behind her, she didn't seem to notice.

“Hello Hana,” I said and managed to put her in a headlock that was hard to hold since she was struggling quite a bit. I took out a kunai and pressed it to her neck, she froze instantly, panicking that if she moved, it would be her last.

“Don't worry,” I reassured. “I won't kill you.” I then put away my kunai and walked over to sensei. “Does that prove my worth?” I asked him. Sensei nodded.

“Well, since we saw that demonstration. Let's practice chakra manipulation! Okay, so this is what you have to do!” Sensei explained to us how to climb without using our hands, which I had already learned. I decided to do the activity again.

oOoOo

I arrived at the Uchiha compound late in the afternoon. I probably looked very beaten up, after a hard day of training. Even though Hayato-sensei appeared to be easy-going and cheerful, he put us through some difficult exercises.

I opened up the door to the house and silence greeted me, except for the odd scratch of a pencil. I walked into the kitchen to find Sasuke sitting at the table, filling out an application of his own.

“You are going to apply for the Chuunin Selection Exams?” I asked him, he looked up from the piece of paper.

“Yes. There will probably be strong ninja there I can go up against to prove how strong I am. If I defeat them, I'll be one step closer to killing him,” Sasuke told me cryptically.
