Chapter Six
Rachel was awoken by the smell of bacon and eggs, causing her stomach to growl instantly. Whilst Ross woke up to nobody cooking and feeling once again, alone.
Ross gets up and drags his feet across the rug and walks into the bathroom to do his business.
After that, he enters his living room and picked up his phone. He hesitated but he dialed the number anyway. He was praying she didn't change the number.
After a few rings, she clears her throat. "Um hello?"
"Hey it's me.." He spoke in a whisper. He didn't dare say his name, even though, she most likely knew from his voice.
"Ross.." she sighs out. "Wow it's been..A good 2 years?"
"I would say 4 the most.." he frowns. "How have you and uh...Yeah, how have you been?"
"I've been good..Um, quick question Ross"
"Sure anything"
"Why did you call? I mean...It's been years. And it's so out of the blue"
"Because Carol.." Ross didn't want to finish his sentence but he wanted to let it out. "I did something terrible and I regret it so much"
"What is it?"
"I was dating this special girl...And I cheated on her"
"Ross!" Carol yelled out disappointed. "I've known you for a long time and I know you wouldn't hurt anyone, so, what made you do it?"
"I was drunk.."
"No Ross. What really made you do it?"
Ross rubs his forehead frustrated. "I guess I was overwhelmed"
"From?"
"Rachel, the girl I love, told the boss at the coffeehouse she was pregnant and it was mine. I found out by him and I was obviously excited but then it hit me, I was having a baby"
"Do you want to be involved in the baby's life?" Carol asked concerned.
"Of course! I always wanted a family with Rachel but I guess this came up so unplanned and random, it just hit me by surprise and I got drunk"
Ross could tell she was shaking her head at this point. "Let her know the truth"
"I can't! If she finds out I got so drunk cause I was overwhelmed, she's gonna be even more hurt"
"Just tell her you were scared. Ross, she'll understand. She's the one carrying the baby, not you"
Ross nodded. "Right now we're really not on speaking terms but..I'll let her know when the times right"
"Good"
Ross smiles and he could tell Carol was too. "I miss you and thank you so much for this talk, you're a good..Friend..I'm glad I called you"
"And I'm glad you did."
-
"Guess who just got a girls number?" Chandler gloats and starts rubbing the paper in his friends faces.
"And how did you get a girls number"
"Simple, you lie"
Rachel raises her eyebrows. "Hm and what lie is that?"
"Does it matter? I got the number!" Chandler smiles and waves the paper again.
"Chandler, just tell us the lie!"
"Fine fine..I told her I was the presidents brothers son"
Rachel now laughs. "What? Everyone knows the presidents brothers son isn't you"
"Have you met him?"
"No but-"
"I rest my case" Chandler sarcastically smiles and puts the number in his jeans.
"You do realize that girl probably lives ALL the way up here and you don't. You're only gonna see her for one more day and that's it"
"I still got her number"
-
Rachel was laying down. It was only 4 pm and everyone else went to the pool that was a few blocks away. Rachel would go but, it was her only time to sit and sulk.
She was happy there was no connection out here cause if there was, she would've gave up already and called him.
I mean, what was she really gonna do? She's having a kid with him, she can't completely shut him out, he clearly wants to be involved but the night she saw him and Kate, it showed otherwise.
She was so confused. She didn't want to forgive him that easily and she didn't want to take months to forgive him. She felt so bipolar about him.
Every time she saw his face she just wanted to beat the living crap out of him but when she's away from him and trying to sleep, she feels like she made a mistake.
She could ask her friends what she should do and they'll probably just tell her to do what makes her happy.
And honestly, she doesn't know what makes her happy anymore.
-
Ross has been in the coffeehouse for a few minutes now and for some reason, Gunther looked so cheerful. It caused Ross to be confused.
Usually Gunther walks around or stands behind the counter like he hates his job and life but today, he's acting like he hit the lottery.
Gunther gives Ross his coffee and puts it on the table and Ross looks up at him. "Hey, why are you so cheerful?"
"Why wouldn't I be?"
"Cause you look so depressed all the time"
"But I'm not cause the girl of my dreams is single again" Gunther smiled happily.
Ross frowned, remembering Rachel now. "Yeah the girl of my dreams is single too"
"I know" Gunther kept smiling. "I heard"
"And this is amusing for you, how?" Ross had no emotion on his face as he picks up his coffee.
"I got orders to do" Gunther kept smiling and walked away.
"Weirdo" Ross scoffed and took a sip of his coffee. He looked at all the empty chairs around him and sighed. It felt so weird with none of his friends sitting next to him.
Boy did he miss them.
And most importantly, how much he missed Rachel. And how much he missed sleeping next to her. When she comes back, he knows it's gonna be the same as it was when she was here.
It hurts him to know she can't even stand to look at him.
