"How far would he go until he got annoyed enough?"

Kiera's POV

Waking up with light streaming through the window I stretch, yawning lightly.

"Morning love. How are you feeling?" I hear a voice say. Jumping slightly I turn to see Justin laying next to me, an arm thrown over my waist casually as he stares at me.

"Morning. I'm fine." I mumble, looking down at the sheets, unsure of whether I should look at him because it would make him angry and at the same time not wanting to look in his eyes and feel something.

"How is your arm? You're probably ready for more pain medicine huh?" He asks, pulling my body closer to his chest. Choosing not to say anything I nod instead, stiffening a bit as I make contact with his chest.

"Will you eat something for me first? The doctor said not to give them to you without food in your stomach." He asks softly. Shrugging again I look up down at the bed spread as he sits us up in bed.

"Come on love, please- please eat something. E- even if it's not for me. For yourself. It's not healthy for you. I know you're hungry. You haven't eaten in a week, I'm worried about you. You can have anything you want; I'll have them make it for you." He says, grabbing my face lightly and pulling it up to meet his.

"Fine." I say sighing and looking away. It was true, my arm did hurt a lot. And I was hungry.

"Really!? Okay love. What do you want to eat?" He asks, his eyes brightening a shade.

"Two fried egg, hash browns and toast and orange juice?" I mumble out, really more of a question than a statement. I mean he had said anything I wanted... right?

"Okay love. Katie, Kiera wants two fried eggs, hash browns, toast and orange juice. Make sure the chef gets it done as quickly as possible." Justin commands to Katie who had just knocked on the door a few moments ago. Seeing her curtsey, not looking at either of us I notice a red mark across her face as she turns and leaves quickly, shutting the door behind her again. Shifting uncomfortably next to Justin I lie back down against the pillow drawing circles on the bed spread mindlessly. The smack I heard yesterday must have been Justin hitting her. And if he did that to her what's to say he wouldn't do that to me?

"What's wrong love?" He asks, looking at my frowning expression.

"Nothing." I say shrugging.

"No, something's wrong. You know you can tell me anything right? I'm not going to get mad at you." He says, pulling my face up to look at his.

"W-why- does Katie have-" I start to say only to stop and look away again. He'd probably get mad at me or something for asking. I should just stop now while he was in a good mood.

"Why what baby?" He urges, pulling my face back to meet his.

"Nothing, never mind. Forget I said anything. It's not important." I say quickly, shaking my head, trying to pull it out of his grasp.

"Obviously it's not nothing. Come on you can ask me anything." He says looking at me sternly.

"Why does Katie have a mark on her face? Why did you hit her?" I mumble out finally, quickly looking away from his eyes and cringing lightly. Hearing him sigh he lets go of my face and pulls me into his chest.

"She's just a huma- servant, she's nothing. She didn't do what I asked. She needed to be punished. There are consequences for not following my orders. I don't want you to worry or stress about it; it shouldn't matter to you. You are above them." He says dismissively.
