"Anna!" I kept walking. "Hey, Anna!" Stiles eventually caught up, grabbing my arm. "I was calling you, were you zoning out or something?" He asked with half a laugh as I turned to face him reluctantly.
"Or something." I sighed. "What's up, Stiles?" Like I said I had been avoiding alone time with the guys and for two months I had managed to get away with it, always making sure someone else was there, but apparently at school was different when you were walking down the corridors alone and you passed one of them.
I wasn't holding a grudge and I didn't hate them, I wasn't even mad, but being alone with either one or both Scott and Stiles... I don't think I could handle it. I would say something like I had to Malia only probably worse and with the supernatural problems starting back up again my emotions were hardly top priority.
"Scott and I both have a free period and so does Theo Raeken. We're meeting him in the locker room and he's going to tell us his story."
"And?"
"I got a copy of everyone's time tables and you have a spare as well." He stated, clearly wanting me to tag along.
I ignored the part about Stiles having everyone's timetable, I mean... it is Stiles. "Right. Sure." I stated simply and took the lead, heading straight for the boys locker room. I was planning on starting my homework for AP Psychology, but oh well. I was curious about Theo and would prefer to hear the story from him than second hand.
By walking at a ridiculously fast pace that Stiles stumbled to keep up with, we managed to get to the locker room without making any more conversation. It also meant that when we met up with Theo and Scott, Stiles was breathing heavily and puffing.
After giving him a minute to recover, Theo began his explanation about how he became a werewolf.
"I was skating in a neighbour's empty pool, trying to do a handplant. Nobody was home." Theo began. "I'm not that good of a skateboarder, but I guess I was feeling pretty determined because I completely lost track of time. I didn't even realize that it was night until the yard lights came on... Like I said, I wasn't very good. On my last try I went down and hit hard. Really hard. I was sitting there at the bottom of the pool and I realized something. I never heard the board come back down." Theo looked at the ground for a moment before looking back up at us. "It came at me fast. I barely had a chance to turn around before it bit me. Right here." Theo gestured to his side.
"Well it wasn't an accident, he wanted to turn you." Scott stated.
"Alright, so why aren't you a part of his pack? Why didn't he come back for you?" Stiles asked.
"By the time of my first full moon he was dead." Theo replied.
"How do you know that?" I asked, curiously.
"I met another one of his pack a couple weeks later." Theo replied, turning to me. "The alpha that bit me was killed by two of his own betas, they were twins."
We all knew instantly that Theo was talking about Ethan and Aiden and it was too much. I glanced over and Stiles and then Scott before breaking eye contact with everyone and lightly shaking my head, looking at the ground with an almost sarcastic smile. I hated coincidences.
"Listen to my pulse... I'm telling the truth." Theo said. I had been listening, the whole time and it didn't waver once, but that didn't necessarily mean anything.
"Right, or you just know how to steady your own heart rate while you're lying your ass off." Stiles voiced what I was thinking. I was fairly sure that Stiles trusted Theo even less than I did... in fact I wanted to trust Theo. I wanted to believe him and in a weird way I did and felt like we could trust him...
