"Megan...?" I stared.

"Hey..." She breathed.

"Nelly..." I looked into her eyes, holding her tighter. "What happened...?"

Nelly tightened her grip on me and sniffed. "Well..."

Megan. The one person that hadn't been accounted for, ever since we had arrived in Unova. What was it Darragh had said? She and Alfred were doing 'something different'. Some different work behind the scenes...

It turned out that the work they had been doing was watching Tobi's every move, following him every time he stopped moving. They found his base of operations, they found the launch sites of the airships, and, most recently, they had found the abandoned warehouse that Tobi had taken Nelly to when she had been kidnapped. They had been forgotten about, but as tactical units in an attack force, that was exactly what they wanted. Spies, that was what they were. And Megan's initiative had saved Nelly's life.

Less than an hour ago, outside the abandoned warehouse...

Megan had stuck to the shadows the entire journey. The trees masked her movements as she followed Tobi all the way from Castelia City. Now she was here, looking at a shoddy old building that he had just dragged his prisoner into.

Megan had been part of the crowds as the commotion had unfolded in the city. She watched Derek Quagmire die. In Genesis, his son had been a commanding officer under her orders. Father and son were dead. Then she heard the truth about CJ, and watched him die too. All the time she had to remain quiet. Tobi had Nelly in his grasp. One false move, and the girl was joining the other victims. When Tobi had run through the city, carrying her with him, Megan had been quick to follow. Ducking low at every opportunity, she tailed him to the outskirts of the city, then falling back into the trees as he picked up speed. The whole time, Alfred was talking to her through a hidden earpiece. Her half-brother was going to give up the emerald. That much she knew. But she also knew Tobi was a cheat – a filthy liar. He would kill Nelly with no remorse.

"All right. He's taken her inside the building." Megan whispered.

"Ok, stay calm." Alfred spoke into her ear. "Is there another way in?"

"I see a door in the side of the wall. Hang on."

Megan crept out from the shelter of the trees and ran for the building. She slowed down and reached the door. The main entrance was around the corner, but it was open, and Tobi was standing in the doorway. If there was any chance of rescuing the girl now, this door needed to lead right in. She peered through the glass. The door would open into a small storage room, full of boxes. But there was another door from there that lead through into the main room. In fact, she could see Nelly's face through the two sets of glass. Nelly turned her head towards the door and Megan hit the grass, keeping out of sight. She couldn't be seen by either of them. If Nelly knew she was there, she might give away the game and get them both killed.

Slowly, Megan reached up behind her head and turned the door handle. The door didn't budge an inch.

"Damn..." She sighed. "It's locked."

"Well, hang on. That building is decades old..." Alfred thought it through. "The lock should be weak. Use your tools."

Megan reached into her pocket and pulled out a tiny tube of liquid. It was silver and shiny, but was highly acidic when it came into contact with metal. This was a weak dose for the field, but usually it was all that was needed. She squeezed some of it into the gap in the lock, and it began to fizz. But nothing happened. "It's too slow..." She swallowed.
